Types of modules, there's more than you might think.

This is pretty much just a list of modular devices I find out about so I can keep track of them, but I might as well describe them some while I'm at it. Modular devices are just devices that can be plugged together to create more complex devices. This generaly means making each module with a standard interface so any module in a set can connect directly to all the others.

Those Module-majigs

roBlocks
Snap-together blocks is designed for making simple robots, each block having a specialised function, such as sensor, acutator, or basic logic. Blocks configure themselves automaticly when snapped together.
Bug Labs
General purpose electronic device modules which connect to a central BUGbase, which is essentialy a small Linux computer.
ckBot
A reasearch project at ModLab, ckBot is a modular robot capable of reconfiguring itself and reassembling itself if broken up.
Bioloid
A product of Robotis, Bioloid is a reconfigurable robotics platform aimed at hobbyists. It uses a central controler and several sensor and servo modules.
