Moissanite: Gift of the Gods

All About Moissanite And Where to Find It

Moissanite is a simulated diamond made of Silicon and Carbon(Silicon Carbide). It was first discovered in 1893 when Dr. Henri Moissan, a Nobel Prize winning scientist discovered it among the ruins of a meteor.

Unfortunately, Moissanite occurs very rarely in nature, but thanks to fusion technology and fortunately for us, we are now able to make it in the laboratory.

Moissanite is known for its brilliance, which outshines the diamond two and a half times. It is no wonder, it has become a jewel to die for.

How Can You Tell a Diamond from a Moissanite Jewel

Moissanite Jewels Look and Behave Like Diamonds

Believe it or not, Moissanite jewels test positive on the standard Diamond Tester Meter; experienced jewelers use a specialized moissonite tester.

Other ways to tell the difference between Moissanite and Diamonds:

Moissanite tends to have polished girdles (the outside edge which runs around the crown of the stone), while diamond tends not to have that.

When you look through a Moissanite stone, it tends to have refractive properties (it doubles), whereas the diamond does not double.

In some tests, the Moissanite Stone is superior to a diamond. Although it costs slightly less than a natural diamond, there is not a huge difference.

However, none can compare to the superior brilliance of the Moissanite. For those who don't mind going against the grain, choose Moissanite.
