Moissanite is a simulated diamond made of Silicon and Carbon(Silicon Carbide). It was first discovered in 1893 when Dr. Henri Moissan, a Nobel Prize winning scientist discovered it among the ruins of a meteor.

Unfortunately, Moissanite occurs very rarely in nature, but thanks to fusion technology and fortunately for us, we are now able to make it in the laboratory.

Moissanite tends to have polished girdles (the outside edge which runs around the crown of the stone), while diamond tends not to have that.



When you look through a Moissanite stone, it tends to have refractive properties (it doubles), whereas the diamond does not double.


In some tests, the Moissanite Stone is superior to a diamond. Although it costs slightly less than a natural diamond, there is not a huge difference.
