Mold and Mildew Prevention

Keeping living areas of your home dry is the easiest way to prevent mold and mildew from forming. This would include making repairs that include repairing water leaks from faulty pipes and drains, insulating water pipes that sweat and form condensation, fixing roof leaks and faulty gutter systems, proper ventilation of bath areas with exhaust fans and repairing damp basements caused by ground water seepage from improper drainage or faulty foundations. Using a dehumidifier to remove excess moisture in the air will also help in damp basements and rooms.

I'm wondering how to tell if there is mold inside the walls of my house. The allergy symptoms that I have, make me wonder about this.

If the interior and exterior walls of your home are dry and have never suffered any kind of water damage, you probably have nothing to worry about. If they have been exposed to excessive moisture, humidity or contain damp areas you may want to consult a mold removal expert or professional home repair contractor for advice.
