# Molly is a girl living in the year 1944 and WWII has brought many changes to Molly's life. An English girl comes to live with Molly's family to escape the bombings. They slowly become good friends.

Based on several of the "Molly; An American Girl" books, this story is set in 1944 in the fictional town of Jefferson, Illinois during World War II. Molly McIntire and her family are learning to cope with the changes the war has brought to their close-knit family. Molly misses her father who went overseas to care for the wounded soldiers. As they try to keep things running smoothly, Molly enters a dance contest at school. She and her friends are lively, outgoing and always bursting with ideas. Also during this time a young girl named Emily comes from London England to live with the family and Molly learns the importance of getting along and pulling together.

Molly, a spunky heroine in the wildly popular American Girl series of books and characters, is a typical tween living in an atypical time: 1943, the height of World War II. In An American Girl on the Home Front, Molly and her friends are dimly aware of the war and the occasional hardship it can mean, but Molly (played with grace and bravado by Maya Ritter), like most kids, really hasn't had occasion to pay attention ("She just doesn't understand rations, Mom," her sister snipes). This film follows Molly as the war begins to hit home; her father is shipped overseas and her mom (a delightful Molly Ringwald) becomes a temporary Rosie the Riveter. Molly bravely rolls with the punches, yet her life is still leavened with fun, like learning to tap dance for the local Miss Victory competition. Then a young refugee from England, Emily (Tory Green), comes to stay, and Molly's, and young viewers', consciousness is raised. As always with American Girl heroines, Molly is a great role model with strong values, but never a goody-two-shoes. The period touches, including clothes, movie-reels, and background music, are well done too. Extras include a compelling documentary, Uncle Sam Wants You... to Tap Dance, featuring an interview with Mitzy Scott, an 88-year-old former USO dancer and hostess, relaying her personal history of dancing at home and with soldiers on leave, making something personal and dear to her--dance--into the ultimate patriotic act. -- A.T. Not Another Teen Movie hits all the easy targets until it finally becomes one of the movies it's attempting to spoof. But it's a painless diversion if you enjoy taking the low road for a few good laughs. With the exception of hailing John Hughes's 1980s teen-flick monopoly (including a cameo by Pretty in Pink's Molly Ringwald), the film spoofs subjects of a later vintage. References to She's All That, Can't Hardly Wait, Bring It On, and several others are whipped into a tasteless gumbo of gags concerning sex, diarrhea, Tourette's Syndrome, brain concussions, desperate male virgins, and token black guys. Ostensibly Not Another Teen Movie is about a jock (Chris Evans) betting that he can turn the cute-ugly duckling (Chyler Leigh) into a prom queen, but plot hardly matters when a firm-breasted exchange student appears regularly in her birthday suit. Five writers came up with this stuff; it's a safe bet they're still stuck in detention. -- Jeff Shannon

"Cowboy Up" is a celebration of the risk-taking, daredevil personalities of modern rodeo. In the world of professional bull riding, new comer Ely Braxton (Marcus Thomas) is the craziest guy around; his brother Hank (Keifer Sutherland) is a rodeo clown, and the two use each other to play up their acts. But love may be the one thing that tears the brothers apart. When Ely falls for the rodeo's sweetheart (Daryl Hannah), Hank if filled with jealousy and hatred. The brothers try to come to grips with their differences, but the competion gets as fierce as the bulls in the ring.
