Mom's Calendar Keeps Family On Track

When a mom is organized, her family is organized. She begins to see that as her children are infants. Keeping up with the many doctor visits while operating on little sleep is difficult! As her children get older, it become even more of a challenge to keep all the activities straight. Is today the day for Suzie's dance lesson or Bobby's math tutor? Can I fit in this invitation for dinner, or are we busy?

While every mom has her own organizing structure, keeping a calendar (or calendars) is usually the most important piece of her planning tool-kit. I've found some mom friendly calendars for the 2011 year that will help you keep your schedule documented.

Choosing the Right Calendar

Knowing which calendar is right for you.

Wall or planner? Reuseable or dated? So many options! How can you know which one is the right one or you?

Think about who will use the calendar. If the answer is just you, then a planner you can carry around is probably the best choice. If your whole family will use it, you need a wall calendar that can be located in a central location.

Consider the age of your children. If your children are older, you might want to pick a calendar that they can easily identify their activities. Younger children won't be using the calendar on their own, so it would not be as important.

Consider the amount of activities you have. If you have a large family or are extra busy, you will need a calendar with a lot of room in each daily space.

How many calendars do you need? One calendar might not be the answer for you. You might need a wall calendar, a planner, and a calendar for each child in their own rooms.

Consider what you will actually use. Five calendars might be great in theory, but will you actually update them all? Will you take a planner with you, or will a wall calendar be all you really need?

What Calendar Do You Use? Any Scheduling Tips?

I have a table calendar sitting right on my computer desk. On it, I scribble notes if I have to recall certain things that I know I will most likely forget. So far, so good because I don't have to write a lot on it for now. Maybe in a few years' time, I will need a better organizer as age catches up and my memory is no longer as reliable...

Our calendar is electric - on the computer. I feel lost when the power goes out. A back up planner like some of the ones here would be quite nice.
