I highly recommend The Prayer of Jabez, a extraordinary, but small and easy read by Dr. Bruce H. Wilkinson. I had read it before several years ago, it isn't a new book. But this time around has been different. I started reading it again as a part of my Sunday School class. We're watching a video series where you watch Dr. Wilkinson himself talks about the book and you have a listening guide. It is really interesting. I am learning so much.

God truly wants to "bless" his people and God doesn't mind us asking for his blessings. But we also have our responsibility ourselves to give of our time and ourselves. We need to give God our very best!

I also highly recommend the teen version of this book which I have used with the teens in my prior youth group as a study. So check both of these out! You won't be disappointed.

Do you respect your daughter's father, your husband, and your partner in life? It is very important that we show respect to our mates, setting an example for our daughters. The respect which I am referring to is a noun which is defined by Dictionary.com as an "esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person." The Bible speaks of this in Ephesians 5:33, "However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband." It is so important that we respect and love each other as husband and wife. This is one of the most important ways that you can be an example to your children and makes them feel loved.
I remember my parents working together as a team in parenting my brother and I. My mom never made a decision without the input of my dad. My mom and dad's most famous works were, "go ask your mother" or "go ask your father" but we always ended up asking them both. That's just how things worked in our house. My dad was infamous for his "meetings" with my mother to discuss things before answering us. Through this, I witness my parents respect for one another. I believe that this helped me to be a person of respect and a confident person.
Do you not want your daughter to be a person of respect that not only has respect for others but for herself as well? By witnessing the example of your relationship with her father, she will gain knowledge of what it means to respect yourself and others.
During this week following Father's Day, think about how you are influencing your daughter by your relationship with her father. See if there are any areas where you need to work on your relationship, study the Scriptures for guidance on how you can improve and apply those teachings to your life.
