Wonderful Lens. There's more to Christmas Cookies than the wonderful taste; the preparation generates that Christmas feeling.

So many of these recipes sound excellent! My family are peanut butter lovers so I have to try the ones with the peanut butter cups in them. I know they will be a hit here. I'm wondering if you can make those ahead and freeze them.
  • janices7 Sep 19, 2010 @ 1:04 pm | delete
The peanut butter cup cookies can definitely be frozen and baked ahead of time (in fact, we freeze all of the cookies and unthaw them as needed for the holidays). Personally, I unthaw the peanut butter cup cookies at room temperature and then when I want one, I pop it in the microwave for about 10 seconds so the chocolate on the pb cup is slightly melty - yummy - my mouth is watering now:)

One of my favorite childhood memories is the baking frenzy with my mom and siblings before Christmas. It was a tradition every year to make (almost) inedible sugar cookie cutouts and then decorate them with homemade, food-colored, powdered sugar and water frosting as thick as the cookies themselves! :)
  • flighty02 Jan 14, 2009 @ 7:27 am | delete
These look great! I will try making them this year. Welcome to The Cooks Cafe group.

Alrighty - I'm trying out the peanut butter blossums recipe today - they'd better be as good as they look because I'm hmmm...what's that word where you multiply by 5? Well, that's what I'm doing. :) And I've made sugar cookies alot - never done them with icing sugar/powdered sugar. That sounds great!

we always cover pretzels with white or chocolate almond bark and then cover with Christmas sprinkles. Another thing that the kids love to help with is Eggs & Bacon - we drop a dollop of white almond bark on wax paper, spread around a little, then add 2 pretzel sticks and 2 yellow M&M's to create fried eggs and bacon! YUMMY LENS!
