Monetizing File Downloads

This is a mini guide and is not intended to be all inclusive of the what can or should be done to maximize your income.

12 Step Method
1. Create Necessary Accounts
Use the links provided above to create accounts with the online services that we will be using. Be sure to save your login info somewhere so that you can always access your accounts. Be sure you list your PayPal email address as your payment method where applicable.

2. Download Software
Download and install the torrent client (in this case its UTorrent) and WinZip.

3. Get Files To Share
After you have created your accounts, you'll need to get some files to monetize. Find a torrent site such as piratebay or BTJunkie.org and download torrents. Load the torrents into UTorrent if it doesn't automatically open the torrent file after downloading the torrent and download until the file is complete at 100%.

4. Open Files For Repackaging
Open up the downloaded file folder (it should be where ever UTorrent is set to save completed downloads), and unzip the file if necessary to get to the main file or files that are contained in the download.

5. Make A Password
Come up with a password to protect the file and save the password somewhere such as in a text file using notepad.

6. Create A New Password Lock
Go to DownloadBits.com, sign in and click the link to Create New Password. Create the a new password and where the form asks for a password, use the one you saved in your text file.

7. Create Instructions For Downloader
After your password has been created, you will have the option of viewing your password page, you can right click on the link and select copy shortcut or you can click the link and copy the address from the browser address bar. Shorten this password page link in Adf.ly. After you have shortened URL from Adf.ly, you will created a new text file using notepad in the same folder that you opened your completed download. Rename the text file something like "Get_Password" or "Read_Me_for_Password". Basically a title that tells the user to read the text file to get the password. Inside the text file, paste the Adf.ly link to the password page on DownloadBits.com and give basic instructions telling the downloader to go to this page to access the password to open the zip file they just downloaded.

8. Password Protect The Zip File
In the folder where your password text file and completed download reside, create a new winzip file and add the downloaded file(s) to it. In the winzip browsing window, select all the files you just added and then go to the top menu where it says "Action" and scroll down to "Encrypt". You will be prompted for a password to encrypt the files you just selected. Paste the password that you originally entered into DownloadBits.com and then press okay and close the file.

9. Add Instructions To Zip File
Once the file is closed, drag the Get_Password.txt file (or whatever you named it) onto the zip file you just closed to add the text file without encryption. This text file will be only file accessible in the zip file without a password. Just for your information, we didn't add the text file with the other files because WinZip will encrypt all files added while it is in Encrypt mode, so we closed the zip file to exit Encrypt mode first. Your zip file is now done and ready for uploading and sharing.

10. Add Zip File To Pay Per Download File Sharing
Log into Wupload.com and upload your zip file. Once the upload is complete copy the download link and go to Adf.ly to shorten the URL (download link).

11. Add Download Link To Password Page
Shorten your download link in Adf.ly. Take the shortened URL and go back to your DownloadBits.com password page and select "Edit My Password" and paste your shortened URL into the description as a download mirror. This isn't necessary but it is convenient because if a potential downloader stumbles across your password page on DownloadBits.com, you'll give them a location to download the encrypted zip file.

12. Promote Your Link
Take your Adf.ly link from step 7 (same one you saved in the text file for downloaders to go to in order to get the password). Share this link on your favorite blog, forum, twitter, facebook or anywhere else without being a spammer.

Rinse, Repeat, and Scale Up.

Why This Works
In the 12 steps above we are able to make sure that we maximize monetizing the download by creating revenue on the virtually every step of the download process. When a downloader goes to downloadbits.com to get the password, we are paid by Adf.ly whether they unlock the password or not. When a downloader visits WUpload.com to download the zip file, we are paid by Adf.ly for click and then by WUpload.com for the download, and of course paid again by Adf.ly when they use the link in the Get_Password.txt file included in the zip file. The big money comes when the downloader actually completes a survey and unlocks the password. So in this method every step the user takes makes us money.

You can also twist this method with the drop in replacement of Sharecash instead of DownloadBits, by uploading a text file to sharecash that includes the password to unlock the zip file.

Optional - Use UTorrent to create a torrent from your zip file and add the torrent to as many torrent sites as possible such as BTJunkie.org and ThePirateBay.org. You will need to keep UTorrent running to seed the torrents until there are enough seeders for the file to sustain itself.
