Me, Myself and I - Monika In Triplicate

Sometimes I feel like three people,or four, or five. I've had so many roles in my life! Of course, I'm always a woman, that never changes. My favorite role is Mom. Currently, I also claim the titles of writer and witch. You can also call me daughter, sister, aunt and friend...hmmm, maybe there should be a dozen of me!

Monika In First Grade

Can you find me?

I'm the girl with the glasses sitting directly to the right of the teacher. I loved school and never wanted to leave. Today, I long to return.

The one thing I remember most about first grade was the wonderful biographies I read about Helen Keller and Babe Ruth. Books amazed me, especially books about real people.

My Two Loves

Corina and Gwyn

corina-and-gwynMy daughters brought some badly needed stability and love into my life. Raising both of them was a privilege and a joy. Corina, my oldest, lives in Missouri with her husband and my two grandchildren, Morgan and William. Gwyn, the youngest, attends college and plans on being a teacher when she graduates.

My poor girls have had to tolerate a mom who knows more about computers than make up and fashion. I hope I gave them a vision of a woman who was strong and yet loving, able to make her own way in the world. I want my daughters to believe that they can achieve anything if they work at it.

Bogey and Bella

Bogey-and-Bella-parakeet-parakeetsFirst came Bogey, my gorgeous green male, follow shortly by Bella, my beautiful blue baby. Parakeets have a sweet twittering that keeps me good company when I'm writing. Watching their little birdie dramas always makes me laugh.

The Birdie Birds

Dusty and Sammy

sammy-dusty-cockatielsI added Dusty and Sammy to the flock because of their cute little cheeks. Dusty came first, from a home with issues. He warmed up to the family quickly, though. He's still the crankiest of the birds, but he's gotten sweeter as time has passed.

I got Sammy for his cheerful disposition and his talking ability. He chatters all day, sometimes even saying something I can understand, like "pretty birdie" or "I love you".

Right now, I think my flock is the perfect size. In the future I will add a conure, but for now, my flock Is complete.

“I write fiction for love, non-fiction for money.”

Where I Write

I write whenever and wherever I can. Besides my blog, you can find me in a few other places on the web.
Healthy Food
Having had a life-long battle with weight, I obsess about this subject.
Coupons
Money has always been in short supply in my life, so I try to leverage every cent.
Twitter
Since I have birds on the brain, tweeting comes naturally.
How Tos
I'm still building my library here, but I love to explain how to do stuff.

My Fiction

I am struggling with editing my first novel. Currently, I am wondering if I should just chuck it and try again. Soon I'll be taking another stab at it and I'll keep you updated on my progress.

Three of Monika's Favorite Songs

Because I couldn't pick just one.

I feel the same way as you. I sometimes feel as though I have several blogs to house my split personalities as mum, parent, etc or just me. :)

Very enjoyable peek into your life, Monika. If we beg and plead, will you tell us more? Or you can just make some lenses about the other parts.

You have always intrigued me. I think because we are so different and yet share so many things in common. You always serve to open my mind and I just adore you for it. Just seeing your face makes me smile. You are a warm and loving person. I hope to see you add even more about yourself here as time goes on.

Mom's Last Christmas Gift to Me

iPod Shuffle

Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Silver (4th Generation) NEWEST MODEL

Amazon Price: $45.99 (as of 06/03/2012)Buy Now

My Mom passed away in September, 2011. The previous Christmas, I had asked for an MP3 player. Since Mom had a limited budget, I picked a very inexpensive player. Mom, however, had other ideas. She wanted the best that she could afford and the iPod Shuffle was it. I love my iPod and I think of her every time I listen to it.
