Monitor and manage SEO results

Ranked #71 in Business & Work, #4,690 overall

Managing and maintaining your search engine ranks is important if you want to attract new visitors to your website but it can be a full time job to maintain successfully.

There are many tools online that you can use to monitor your SEO results and keywords that bring visitors to your page there's more to it than just applying tags your site and hoping for the best,

SEO Tools are essential

Some of the SEO tools can provide you with very useful results and valuable data; I would recommend that you go for either SEO Elite or Web CEO. These tools will allow you to see what keywords draw in your visitors, how many hits your getting daily, weekly, monthly and they also include search engine ranking tools that will allow you to track where your site ranks for certain keywords.

To fully evaluate what draws visitors in you need to keep a diary of visitors and note down the keywords that are more successful. You should keep a diary and update this every few days. Experiment with new tags and keywords. Sometimes it's just a case of finding the right keyword that makes your website boom.

There are hundreds of thousands of searches on Google every hour, if you targeted a keyword that most people search for that's related to your website you can result in driving a large amount of traffic to this.

SEO tools cost money is there a cheaper option?

Although SEO tools are useful there are some free online tools that will show you your rank, Clever Stat or GoogleRankings.com are two good ones but there are many more out there. These tools do provide you with accurate data but they don't give you as much detail as the SEO tools online.

SEO optimization is a constant battle to be number 1 on the Google results page. This requires the web master to continue making changes to their website, building back links, recording results and repeating the whole process over again. Sometimes you will get lucky, some websites get to a stage where they start promoting themselves but this is a rare commodity considering the vast number of new websites that are created each day.

You should try submitting your website to other search engines and web directories. Addme.com and Dmoz.com are good places to start epically if your website is new and has very few visitors. There are lots of other websites that you can submit your site too, but don't go overboard, some free listing directories send the index pages to Google, reposting your website over and over again will actually result in lowering your SEO rank. The Google bots that index new pages will treat this as spam and knock your website further down the line.

How Long Does It Take

It could be two months or two years. Posting back links on other websites will help increase your rank. Also if you have a twitter or Facebook account you should consider sharing and asking for feedback. It's important to let other people know your site exists.

You should consider reciprocal linking, link acquisition, as well as adding free tools to your website. Add some valuable content too maybe a few widgets and an embedded YouTube player, helpful downloads can help too.

If you have more than one website you should consider building back links to them but remember that to be successful you must be able to adopt a very proactive mind to the task

This is the best advice for new sites... " Addme.com and Dmoz.com are good places to start epically if your website is new and has very few visitors. " except it takes forever to get accepted to the dmoz directory. You have to wait months and if everything isn't perfectly in order you not getting in. Biggest key is correct category. This is the number one reason why they don't accept websites.

    Cheers!
