The Affenpinscher

The Affenpinscher dog breed traces its roots in Germany. This particular breed is classified as a toy dog due to the dogs' miniature sizes. Affenpinscher in German means "monkey-like terrier" and they were initially bred to chase after rodents that attack the country's stables, granaries as well as kitchens.

Although shaggy given its almost one-inch coat, the general appearance of an Affenpinscher is neat. In France, this breed is popularly referred to as the "moustached little devil" because of its appearance and temperament.
