Monokuro Boo

Monokuro Boo are a pair of pigs, one white and one black, who love simplicity. They have been in the San-X lineup since at least March 2005 and have been very popular in Japan, China, and around the world. Their slogan is "simple is best", obviously referring to their simple design and monochromatic colour scheme (which all of their products share). Their name supposedly derives from "Monokuro", japanese for monochromatic, and "boo" which is the japanese version of "oink". They are often accompanied by a little bee.

Some of the phrases that appear on their merchandise are "Boo" "Love?" "Enjoy?" "Happy!". Monokuro Boo encourage the message that we live in a very complex world with many stresses in everyday life, but we sometimes need leave from the real world and to simplify. This is shown by the simple, minimalist design of their products that appeal to so many people.
