Monopoly Junior - A Great Boardgame for All the Family!
In an era where we are all obsessed with work and our kids are glued to their latest video games, families often don't get to spend quality time together. There can be friction as we run around taking care of the practicalities in life, without stopping to talk to each other. Sometimes we don't spend any recreational time togehter. Something as simple as a regular board game night, can help us get together in a fun way. There are many benefits to sitting down around a table, over an activity that is just about entertainment. Some board games like monopoly or monopoly junior have an educational twist - one that is discreet enough for your kids not to notice! More than that however, playing board games encourages kids to share, take turns and follow rules. They also learn that they can't always win. Lessons learned, when we don't know they are being learned are sometimes the most valuable!
Why not think about bringing some fun back to your family and kids with Monopoly Junior!

What Makes Monopoly Junior Different?
And More Fun for Kids!
The rules of Monopoly Junior are similar to it's grown up counterpart but they have been slightly amended to make it more user friendly and more importantly more fun for younger children. I will give you a brief rundown of the differences and how Monopoly Junior is played. The best way to learn this game is to start playing!
- The junior version of Monopoly takes you on a trip around the fairground. Instead of buying houses and hotels, you make your money by setting up ticket booths on boardwalk amusements such as the ferris wheel.
- While money exchanges hands, it is in much smaller denominations. Bills come in $1, $2 and $5 bills, for example. This makes calculations easier for the little ones and ensures that their mathematical skills are used and encouraged but in an age appropriate way.
- One of my favorite Monopoly Junior rules is that the winner is the person with the most money when the first player runs out of cash. This is great for kids as they don't have to hang around getting bored while those still in the game keep going. Everybody is included from teh beginning to the end of the game.

Some More Features of Monopoly Junior
Monopoly Junior doesn't involve any trips to Jail but it does have its own twists and turns to ensure that there is a little competitive fun for all the players. These include the following:
The Railroad
When you arrive at the railroad, you need to roll the dice again, move to the right space and follow the instructions on the space you land on.
The Restrooms
If you land on the Restrooms space I am afraid you are "Just Waiting"!
"Go to the Restrooms"
If you land on a space with this instruction, you must go directly to the restrooms, do not pass Go, do not collect $2. You also have to put $3 on the "Rich Uncle Pennybags Loose Change" space. When it comes to your next move, you can just roll the die and move as normal.
Fireworks and Water Shows
If you land on the Fireworks or Water Show space, in junior monopoly, you have to pay $2 to watch the show! You place the $2 on the "Rich Uncle Pennybags Loose Change" space.
Rich Uncle Pennybags Loose Change
Now in we know we have to pay money into the Rich Uncle Pennybags Loose Change space but what happens to all that cash? Well if you land on this space you get to keep it all!!
Chance
Like in regular monopoly, you just pick up the top card from the deck, follow the instructions and put the card in the discarded card pile. If you run out of cards you just need to, turn over the pile of discarded cards and start again.
