Monster High Dolls are hard to find! In January, I visited Toys R' Us in NYC located near Times Square. I came across these unusual dolls. They were displayed in the Barbie area. A Barbie doll, they definitely were not. These dolls were more like Bratz Dolls meet Avril Lavigne. They were clothed in dark gothic outfits. The interesting thing was that each doll was the child of a famous monster. For example, Draculaura is the daughter of Count Dracula, however she is a vegetarian and faints at the mention of blood! Frankie Stein is the daughter of Frankenstein and so on. When we first saw the dolls, I knew they were going to be HUGE! I asked my kids if they wanted them. Of course, standing in front of rows and rows of the unknown dolls, my kids declined. Soon the buzz started online and offline about these monster barbie dolls. Now, you can't find many of the popular dolls such as Clawdeen Wolf and Draculaura. Every time I hear about a shipment in a store near my home, they run out within a day. Guess what. Of course, this is when my kids decide to want the dolls. Lucky for me, I found a few promotions and was able to snatch a few up for an unbelievable price of $14.99! I had to go hunt on the internet for several of the dolls because they are extremely hard to find.

Other names Monster High Dolls go by: Monster Barbie dolls, Monster Bratz dolls and monster dolls. Beware of imitations. After doing some research, I found that there are people painting Bratz and Barbie dolls to make them appear like Monster High dolls.

Review: My Experience With the Monster High Dolls
My kids love to change their dolls outfits. Right after they took the dolls out of the box, they tried to change the outfit. The leg came off. Unlike Barbie and Bratz dolls, Monster High Dolls' limbs are held together by an elastic ribbon. Every time we bought a new doll and they tried to change their outfits, the legs would break off. I have had to buy some of the dolls twice already. If your children are older and understand that some toys are not meant to be played with, you shouldn't have a problem. Like I said, these dolls are more for collecting and displaying. They are not rugged enough to withstand multiple wardrobe changes.
