Monster Trucks, Jacked up Trucks, Lifted Trucks
Bring your earplugs and get ready to rumble! Monster trucks are big, high-powered machines built for tearing up the track and flattening cars, buses, or anything else that gets in their way.
Size Does Matter with these heavily modified vehicles! With tires that stand five and a half feet high and more, and a high-powered engine that gulps methanol at an astonishing rate monster trucks generate serious horsepower, draw big crowds and attract even bigger cheers when they crash over derelict cars. Sky high wheelies, flying dirt, and slow-motion rolls are all part of the action when these puppies hit the dirt.

How it all began
Monster Trucks History
It all started as a hobby. Enthusiastic truck owner put lift kits on his truck along with bigger wheels and tires in an effort to raise the truck off the ground. The purpose was purely cosmetic or to actually increase the ride height of the truck, normally for the use of off road driving. Soon others would try to make their trucks even more eye catching and even more powerful. As the trucks got bigger and taller, people started to compete at county fairs or similar events to see who had the strongest or mud-boggingest truck. Read more...
Jacked up Trucks - Lifted Trucks - Monster Trucks
Even though the point at which a truck goes from being a jacked up truck to being a monster truck is a bit unclear we could say that monster trucks are the ultimate jacked up trucks. Key features of monster trucks are: cantilever or independent A-arm suspension package, large diameter tires, increased ground clearance, and often multiple shocks per wheel for improved handling. Also exceptional torque and acceleration. These trucks weigh three times as much as your car, stand 12 feet tall, push about 1500 horsepower and can literally crush you in a 0 to 60 race. Monster trucks are four by four by fours, which means that they have four tires on the ground, four tires receiving power and four tires used in steering the vehicle. Now having all this in mind we can say that any truck "jacked up" less than this is not a monster truck but a jacked up truck.
As for the term lifted truck we can say it describes the trucks that are jacked up to stand tall above the "natural above the ground" measure. In reality "jacked up" trucks almost always coincide with "lifted trucks". Learn more about jacked up trucks...
