Stay close to home and visit local attractions.

Rankography says:

sadly, we are staying close to home all summer.

LissaKlar says:

We went in April so we are going nowhere this summer. We love playing at home though!

VickiSims says:

Rediscovering the attractions and events in my own local community has been a fun adventure for me this summer. I'd forgotten how much there is to see and do in my own area.

CCGAL says:

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am staying near "home" this summer ... but next year, look out world, I'm going to TRAVEL!!!

TravelingRae says:

staying close to home this year, which is nice since my life is normally one giant road trip :)

Ramkitten says:

This summer, it's lots of two- to four-day trips around northern Arizona and southern Utah (I live in Flagstaff, AZ), but I'm planning a couple of big trips, one of them out of the country, for next year. Love having vacations, big and small, to look forward to!

I'm going to hit the road and travel the world!

sockii says:

Italy was earlier this summer (Milan, Florence and Siena) - what a blast for 2 weeks. But over Labor Day weekend I'll be road-tripping from New Jersey to Atlanta, Georgia for Dragon*Con, where I go every year at the end of the summer. It's about a 14-16 hour drive - very long haul but worth it for the fun of being at the convention!

5 Tips for creating the perfect travel lens!

  • 1Take lots of pictures. People love to SEE where they are going and giving them stunning visuals will make your lens pop. Use the Photo Gallery Module to show off your vacation album.
  • 2Share your travel story. Let people know the ins and outs of your vacation destination. Did something funny happen? Did you meet amazing people? Did you learn a new language? Sharing your experiences will draw people into your lens.
  • 3Give a review. Did you love white water rafting? Or the new Italian restaurant down the street? Did you hate the crowds at the beach? Share your travel reviews.
  • 4Stay focused. If your lens is about Orlando, Florida and focus on a specific area. Instead of writing one lens about all of Orlando write smaller lenses about area attractions that focus on niche topics. For example...5 must see attractions at Sea World or My favorite 7 countries in Epcot.
  • 5Don't forget the journey. Share the ups and downs of getting to your Summer vacation. Did you fly, take a train, ride on a boat? Give a short review of how you got to your destination.

A little music to get you in the mood for travel...

Head out on the highway!

Its always home to the northland wilderness where I grew up, at Kabetogama Lake to see Mom. That's my favorite, and need to go this summer again.

Thanks for including Inside West Michigan as an exciting summer road trip! This summer I will be at the Newaygo Nationals in Newaygo, MI for the national canoe/kayak races in August. With the beaches, farmers markets, big cities, and quaint towns in West Michigan, there is something for everyone here for a great summer vacation.
