Puppy Power – 40 Fabulous Dog Lenses

Ranked #1,739 in Squidoo Community, #170,642 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund

Hey Puppy People... this one's for YOU!

Puppy people, pooch petters, canine cuddlers, whichever you prefer to call them, we sure have a great deal of dog lovers here at Squidoo and they're making some amazing lenses about their favorite pets.

Our lensmasters have created lenses about dog health, dog clothes, dog food, dog care, puppy training tips, canine causes, and even dog face painting. They share personal tips and advice to help others, help their pets. Some of their lenses donate to charity, while others help pay the vet bills, or purchase doggie treats for their pups.

We've collected 40 of our favorite dog lenses on this leaderboard to show them to you.

Stop by and give each one a little a belly rub, and a scratch behind the ears. They love that!

40 Fabulous Puppy Powered Lenses

And that's the dog gone truth!

So, Puppy People, which is better...

BIG dogs or little dogs?

Which type of dog makes the best pet? Big dogs or little dogs and why?

Loading

BIG dogs make better pets because...

PetBehaviorist says:

It really depends on the person and the home environment. A Great Dane would typically not be a good choice for someone who lives in a studio apartment in the middle of NYC. And an avid outdoors person who hikes or skis miles every weekend would likely prefer a sporting breed or other mid size dog and not a Maltese - unless she wanted to put the Maltese in her backpack! So the answer is it depends on which person can best meet the dog's behavior and physical needs!

JRLSolutions says:

I love big dogs! I've never owned a small dog, so I won't lie, I do have an inkling for one, one day, when I am ready for a lapdog. But usually about the time I get that notion, my 3, 80+ lb dogs come running by, acting like the worlds biggest goofballs, fighting like warriors for my attention, and I remember why I've always picked the big guys n gals.

sousababy says:

I love all dogs, big or small. I'll just say big since it's the first pick here.

TwoDogHouse says:

Because I currently own 2 big dogs I'll have to say Big Dog Rule because there is more of them to love :)

CosmeticMom says:

Samoyeds :) I so miss my girl I had for 15 years and my heart still feels the love!

nightbear says:

I gotta say, I'm a big dog girl. But there isn't a dog I don't love. But I've always had big dogs. They are a joy and they can romp and wrestle with you. Also they are great workers and helpers. And they tend to bark less. But like I said they are all fantastic.

VickiSims says:

I prefer big dogs because I enjoy having sturdy, athletic dogs who can be companions in all of my outdoor activities.

LindaW says:

Well, as you can see, I also go for the larger breeds! I have lenses about my German Shepherd and my Doberman. I like dogs that can protect as well as be gentle with my grandchildren and are smart and easy to train.

Wednesday_Elf says:

I only like BIG dogs -- a dog that is a dog! Tiny little fluff balls and teensy dogs smaller than a cat don't seem 'dog-like' to me. My personal preference -- I know there are a lot of cute (and well loved) "little" dogs out there. :-)

Wysiwigs says:

As you can see by my avatar, we went for the super-sized version ;o)

little dogs make better pets because...

EssenceOfTheSouth says:

little dogs. They don't eat as much and they are the perfect lap dog. I have 2 little dogs and I adore them. Truely, dogs can be man's best friend.

JackieSonia says:

I love both. I used to have doberman pinchers. Now I have a 3 lb. long-haired chihuahua. So I must vote for the little dog. She is definitely a lap dog and so small it feels like I'm holding a preemie. I love her to bits. We bond everyday.

MJsConsignments says:

We've had both but for all out rolling on the floor fun I have to vote for little dogs...especially if they're pugs!

kiwinana71 says:

Little dogs my pick- I just love cocker spaniels blue roan, have just done a lens on them, will be doing one today on golden cocker spaniels. Love this collection of puppy power. Thanks.

GroovyFinds says:

Little dogs rock...they just Think their big!

Koupie says:

We have had both and I love them both, but the dog I have now is only 15lbs and he is easy to pick up and can sit on my lap and even fit on the bed with us, so I have to go with little dogs :)

squidoopets says:

Little dogs with big hearts!

kab says:

Cocker spaniels!

cmariegifts says:

I have raised and had miniature and toy poodles most of my life except for one year raising an orphaned German Shepherd. I love the poodles because they are so smart and easy to train. All my dogs have been trained to go potty in a litter box. My yard is beautiful and green and am able to walk barefoot if I want without worry. When guests come over I am always complimented on how clean the house and yard are for having an animal. I love ALL animals so hard to pick a favorite...but must go with little dogs!

DecoratingforEvents says:

Small is better for an inside dog. We had dachshunds growing up and I now have a beagle-yorkie mix. I love to cuddle and hold him!

Very kind of you to include my dog face paint! I didn't expect to find it here but yes, I guess it does fit pretty well with the theme. :) Congrats to all the dog lovers who have written fantastic doggy lenses.

i was so sad that I did not see the lens I wrote about my Basset Hound, Howie on this list. He disappeared a year ago on the third of July. He was afflicted with "noise phobia" and the fireworks scared him out of our back yard. I still miss him so very much. I am glad to report that the people who shot off the fireworks in my neighborhood last year did not celebrate that way again.

  • Wysiwigs Aug 4, 2011 @ 10:45 am | delete
We haven't worked our way around to dog yet (we're still on horses and up to nine - eek!) Fun idea for a lens and I'm off to check them out.
  • Squidster Aug 4, 2011 @ 10:19 am | delete
I currently have 4 dogs because people in my neighborhood have no problem throwing out their best friends when they have no more use for them. Our shelters are overcrowded and the humane society doesn't have enough funds to provide a safe, dignified home for all the abandoned pets. Unfortunately, cute puppies are widely regarded as disposable children's toys rather than "canine Americans".
  • ebaybee Aug 4, 2011 @ 9:59 am | delete
Great lens. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
  • BookMama Aug 4, 2011 @ 8:53 am | delete
No ability to suggest a Puppy-Powered lens that you might want to add?? such as:

    http://www.squidoo.com/labrador-retriever-puppies

That's too bad. Well, I still had fun visiting some of the ones mentionned here. Too many to visit all at once.
  • RenaissanceWoman2010 Aug 4, 2011 @ 8:03 am | delete
I came upon this puppy monsterboard immediately after visiting a Johann the Dog lens. I certainly agree that we have some very passionate and high quality puppymasters here. Thanks for featuring that puppy love.
  • vallain Aug 4, 2011 @ 7:39 am | delete
Impressive display and range of topics. I think chrissLJ and AJTyne have been adding some terrific dog and puppy lenses this past month. I recommend that you check theirs out.
