Monsters, Myths, and Mayhem

I'm in the Reaper costume on stilts. Edward Scissorhands in front of me is a very nice girl that beat the pants off me in the contest. I tried again at a second contest at the same place, but I added some goth wings and created a scythe which you'll see later. Still got beaten, but the decidedly one sided crowd was a tad biased to explain without too many details.

Monsters for hire

Sully

I make monsters. Ok, technically I make costumes for myself or family for anywhere we might need a costume. I may buy a bunch of stuff from the halloween store and put it together in a unique way, or I may create everything from scratch.

I usually reserve halloween weekend every year to go out to the clubs holding costume contests and compete. I usually win, always place second at the worst. So I like to think I'm good at it.

For myself, I like the biggest costumes I can get in the door of the club with. I wear stilts with 2 of my creations, and the newest one I'm making is the main character from Monsters Inc. the big blue guy himself, Sully. He isn't a stilt costume, but a shoulder harness contraption I step into and wear the legs as shoes. He's still in the paper mache stage but he's coming along nicely. Update I've changed my mind on Sully. I'm going to use his body and make a new head. I had trouble finding the fur and some Disney created costumes I've seen of Sully aren't really what I want. He has a good monster body though so I'll just do something different. Currently I'm planning on making a dragon with him.

Yuna

I've made several costumes for my daughter for anime conventions. We find a picture and use my mediocre sewing skills to drape the fabrics over her and pin it like crazy and hope something good comes out of it. It is a labor of love, so I pay close attention to the details where I can. Finding the exact right color for the anime costumes is key btw.

Reaper

A completed costume which has yet to win in 2 years unfortunately is the first image on this page. The scythe
and the wings I added to it are here.

Sakura

And as promised in the below comments here are some pics from the second anime costume made for my daughter this is Sakura from the series Naruto Shudipen

What's next?

I hope you've enjoyed my displays so far. I hope I can add a bit to the text to make it more interesting, but this is a work in progress. I"m currently still working quite a bit on Sully. I'll have more time for this lens when he is complete.

Reaper
This is my Reaper costume with the Edward Scissorhands that beat me in the contest standing in front.
Yuna
I made this for the costume contest the local game shop was hosting 2 years ago for the release of final fantasy.
Airbrush
Not exactly costumes. These are friends of mine kind enough to model for my airbrush art. It can be used as an interesting way to make some tight fitting costumes.

One of my other lenses.

Making costumes is so much fun. The best I ever did was a Professor Trelawni one for my daughter when she was a year old!
