- Read his biography. Have experienced abuse as a child also (I'm 53 now) & what I went through still haunts me! His books & non-violent horse training methods could very well be used with your children.

- I have great respect and appreciation for Monty Roberts. He has done more for horses than almost anyone else. I did not know about all of the foster children who had also been loved and cared for by this man and his family. Somehow I'm not surprised. Great lens! Thanks.

- Great lens. I know there's been a lot of controversy over whether Monty did and was all the things he says he was. But I have tried his join-up method with my horse and it worked beautifully. For me that's the important thing.

- Thanks for your comments!
I've tried Monty's methods too, on a friend's horse, and yes... they work to calm a horse's fears and to help the horse to trust you more. I met up with someone at a cattle farm one day, and she wasn't fond of Monty's methods at all, but she couldn't tell me why, other than that she thought they didn't work. My experiences were different. She was a fan of some other horse trainer that said that you HAVE to tie your horses at the legs or they won't know how to hold still if they get caught in barbed wire. That just frightens the life out of them, though, I argued. Then I asked her, half innocently, if she puts barbed wire around her horses or if they frequently get loose and get caught in barbed wire. She didn't like that very much. She got belligerent and stated a few more false things as fact. Well, I decided I had provoked her enough already, so I didn't press the issue. I asked her, though, if she was willing to look up how Monty's techniques teach the horse to stand still and what he suggests we do if our horses are inevitably exposed to barbed wire. She implied that I was a novice and that I should look up her horse trainer. I agreed to, but she said she was already familiar with Monty's techniques. (In other words, "no.") I wasn't impressed with her as a pet owner at all. She chose purposefully to get offended at my questions instead of answering them to my satisfaction, and then she argued from ignorance, putting me down, rather than being open-minded and agreeing to a fair exchange of ideas. Obviously, the techniques she believed in were extremely important to her way of life.

- Monty Roberts is on our website's "Horse Heroes" page, along with a number of other horse-friendly folk. The work he does is wonderful (particularly taking on whips in the racing industry), and I hope that more people will begin following in his footsteps. Great subject and a very nicely done lens :o)

- I really enjoyed your lens and the join up training. I had a horse ranch for 26 years. I rode my horses with love and only a halter. They loved to go to the creek below the house and eat grass and lay in the water.
I no longer live a mile back in with no neighbors. The ranch was sold 5 years ago and I found homes for my horses. I miss them but I had to move to Sacramento to assist my aging parents. It is a different world without my beloved horses. I was a good fence fixer too. Your site is a joy to me and you continue my desire to make life better and easier for all horses. I can recommend your site and enjoy your videos and your wonderful work. I wrote my first lens today and found your site. What a joyful day. I can see that Squido is a remarkable place with wonderful people. Thanks for the Join up. Patty

- Although I'm not such a horsey person Monty is amazing. He even came to Austria where I went to see him do horse stuff. I loved the way he spoke to horses and the way he can tell if a horse has been abused is awesome. He really is a horse whisperer. And I loved reading his books.
