Get exquisite self-hugs with no elicit drugs!

Counting to 10 is boring. I prefer to mumble to myself a memorized funny or euphoric poem, instead.

Mood lamps and candles may improve digestion. A cocktail of mood-change poetics, inspirational poems, before dinner also improves sociability.

Poetics that tap my funny bone will generate a mood change when I'm stressed. What an easy, fun way to improve quality of life for me and those around me.

On this page, I suggest the practice of learning a few poems to enhance your moods when you want, and to entertain yourself and others.

A walk in the park is better when you have a poem in your heart and a ballad on your tongue.

Snowflakes ~

You, too, may dance rebelliously ~ mimic the lilting, playful energy of snow falling.

Memorize this little poem ~ Presto! You feel like dancing.

I counted till they danced so
Their slippers leaped the town,
And then I took a pencil
To note the rebels down.
And then they grew so jolly
I did resign the prig,
And ten of my once stately toes
Are marshalled for a jig!

A Bird came down the Walk -
He did not know I saw -
He bit an Angleworm in halves
And ate the fellow, raw,

And then he drank a Dew
From a convenient Grass -
And then hopped sidewise to the Wall
To let a Beetle pass -

He glanced with rapid eyes

Like one in danger, Cautious,

I taste a liquor never brewed -
From Tankards scooped in Pearl -
Not all the Vats upon the Rhine
Yield such an Alcohol!

Inebriate of Air - am I -
And Debauchee of Dew -
Reeling - thro endless summer days -
From inns of Molten Blue -

When "Landlords" turn the drunken Bee
Out of the Foxglove's door -
When Butterflies - renounce their "drams" -
I shall but drink the more!

Till Seraphs swing their snowy Hats -
And Saints - to windows run -
To see the little Tippler
Leaning against the - Sun -

How do you choose to change your mood when necessary?

Maybe you prefer to activate a LED candle or light scented candles, create aromatherapy, to calm your nerves or work your way out of a bad mood.

Do you like to read or recite poems for attitude adjustments? Prefer a more material method like ice cream? Ice cream and other indulgences today are tomorrow's headaches.

The Brain - is wider than the Sky -
For - put them side by side -
The one the other will contain
With ease - and You - beside -

The Brain is deeper than the sea -
For - hold them - Blue to Blue -
The one the other will absorb -

Words descriptive of a horse reveal the pleasures of imagining a locomotive when it goes out of sight

I say, if a horse, or a little girl going to grandma's for holiday, travel over the hills and through the woods, why not a locomotive?

I like to see it lap the Miles -

And stop to feed itself at Tanks -
And then - prodigious step

Around a Pile of Mountains -
And supercilious peer
In Shanties - by the sides of Roads -
And then a Quarry pare

To fit its Ribs
And crawl between
Complaining all the while
In horrid - hooting stanza -
Then chase itself down Hill -

And neigh like Boanerges -
Then - punctual as a Star
Stop - docile and omnipotent
At its own stable door -
