"I want to go home..."

The directorial debut of Duncan Jones, Moon stars Sam Rockwell as space miner living alone on the isolated surface of the moon, who longs to return to Earth. The film premiered January 23rd at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and is now in theaters across the US.

The story so far...

Our story begins in the near-future. An employee of Lunar, Sam Bell is sent to mine helium-3 gas on the Moon in an attempt to reverse the energy crisis back on Earth. Living with at the Sarang base with only Gerty, a robot, for company, Sam longs to return home. He longs for human contact, relying on sending and receiving taped recordings to his wife and daughter on Earth.

But shortly before he is due to complete his three-year assignment Sam begins to suspect his return home is in jeopardy. With his health deteriorating, a near-fatal crash during a routine mission, and memory loss, Sam soon discovers he is no longer alone on the Moon. But what does it mean for his return to Earth?

Sam Rockwell as Sam Bell
American actor Rockwell has acted in over 40 films. Most recently he has been seen in Frost/Nixon and Choke. Playing memorable side kicks and secondary characters, Rockwell has also acted in Galaxy Quest, Matchstick Men opposite Nicolas Cage, and is currently filming Iron Man 2 for release in 2010.

Kevin Spacey -- Gerty (voice)
Respected American character actor Spacey is also a director, screenwriter, producer, and crooner. Most known for films like The Usual Suspects and American Beauty, he also released the album Beyond the Sea after portraying singer Bobby Darin.

About the Director 

Duncan Jones' directorial debut

Starting out as a wild-cam operator for Tony Scott, Jones established a notorious reputation for controversial fare in the advertising arena. He has also worked in the computer games business as well as directing several music videos. In 2005, he founded Liberty Films with producer Stuart Fenegan. Jones is currently writing and developing Mute.
