Tabe's Reviews And Product Information For My Fellow Fanatics

I've gone back through over a year and a half of my posts at Lush and SmartChat to put together all of my reviews, pics, and info on one handy dandy page.

My Stash Of Goodies From The Halloween 2007 Collection

Amber Rose Sugar Scrub
Madly in love with this. It's more of a dry scrub which I really like. The scent is more of a light resiny-rose but the rose is not very prominant. I should point out that I HATE HATE HATE the smell of brown sugar in my body products and although brown sugar is listed as an ingredient in this, I cannot detect the scent of it at all. It does a great job of scrubbing the skin and leaves me soft and moisturized without being greasy. After toweling off I just feel soft.

Coffee Butter Sugar Scrub
My daughter got a little jar of this in her travel kit this summer and I loved the scent (plus the fact that caffeine is good for cellulite), so I ordered a big jar. Unfortunately, I did not notice before that it contains Belgian Chocolate oil. As I'm a bit concerned that I might have a reaction, I haven't used it yet. I'm probably going to do a test scrub on like one butt cheek and see what happens. The scent is just divine though. More like a coconutty-latte, light, creamy, and despite my aversion to all things "foody", I like this one.

Selene Potion Lotion
This one is a no-brainer. I was introduced to Selene via the travel kit spray and fell head over heels. Medi wrote earlier that it is a green scent which makes sense since I am a green lover, but it's so light. More of a happy, sunny, joyous green to me. I'm really looking forward to getting the Selene oil so I can really soak myself in this scent - it's just very fresh.

Mabon Bath Salts
This is like bathing in the most incredible incense on the planet. Just a little bit in the bath scents the entire room.

Priestess of the Sacred Isle
I haven't opened the canister of salts yet, but I have used the bath oil drops. It is a "heavier" scent than the Mabon or Samhain salts. I can't really place the notes, but it reminds me a little bit of Cauldron. A few drops in the tub does a nice job of scenting the water without being too overpowering.

Maniacal Mamie's Perfume
This is one of Moona's greatest scents!!!! Perfumes like this are the reason I'd give her a kidney. The perfume smells just like the fresh greenhouse of the bombs, only on the skin the fresh/wet/green really fades away and just leaves a lingering of delicate, warm floral.

Mamie's and Black Eidolon Elixers
I haven't broken the wax on these yet. I'm going to try and decant the contents and then re-seal the bottles with colored water because they are just too gorgeous and I want them to stay pristene forever.

Pumpkin Butter Lip Balm
I only get Nutmeg from this. Yes, smells and tastes just like nutmeg. I like nutmeg!! Very soothing nighttime balm.

Fiore de Sicilia Lip Butter
Smells awesome. It reminds me of the fruity sugar parts of the inside of reception sticks candy. It's a very Italian flavor. Brings back a lot of childhood memories.

Essence of Slug Candle
Wonderful, fresh, green scent.

Selene
This is very light incensey with a beautiful, clean, clove finish. If you can imagine a line or continum of "dark, incensy, goth" scents - this would be on the light side - the fluffy bunny of darkness, if you will.

What To Do With All The Wonderful Ephemera

Maniacal Mamie's soap
Smells so nice, but I really don't want to open it because the packaging is so cool.

Forever
This is a very heavy scent, I don't really pick up any single note, it's just blended so well. It fades in to the background and just leaves a gorgeous warm incense-like fragrance on me. I don't like it quite as well as Temple, but it is still a keeper. The only complaint I have about it is the label - it is so cool but already the inks have smeared a bit just opening the roll-on and toting it in my purse for a day.

Great Pumpkin Scrub
Just meh for me. It did make my legs smooth, I knew it would with the pumpkin oil and ginger in it, and it wasn't too greasy. I just didn't realize it had brown sugar in it and that's kind of icky to me - it smells like something I would like to spread on toast and eat for dessert. Just a personal thing with me, though.

Stone Cold Lake bath bombs
Moona REALLY REALLY outdid herself on these. Had I known, I honestly would have ordered 20 of them. They are scented so gorgeously and the scent lasts and lasts. The rune inside is actually a mini soap too! I have no idea what these smell like - kind of in the same category as Sea Witch maybe? Not herbal, not floral, not foody, just so clean. I honestly kept the bathwater in my tub OVERNIGHT just so I could keep smelling it - the whole bath, bedroom, and hall smelled sooooo nice. I want more!!!!

Manialcal Mamie's bombs
These smell very nice, but I haven't used them yet, so I can't give a very good description.

Samhain Salts
I haven't used these yet either, but the aroma is a wonderful sort of "outdoors" halloween - no sweet, except for maybe a slight whiff of pumpkin pie spice (?).

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue Bath Bombs
Absolutely wonderful - its so fresh and light. If you like the Lavender Love, you will be instantly hooked on this one. And, you're right, Moona's fizzies are a total steal!

Sea Witch Salts
Very highly scented. I can get more baths out of them than the bombs too (although I still keep the bombs on hand). I also like the salts b/c they cocktail well with other products and give me the therapeutic benefits of the sea salt. The other salts I've tried in Moonlit Garden, Bohemian Velvet (to DIE for), Temple, Aurora, and some others that I can't pull out of my brain at the moment but I've loved them all!

Bohemian Velvet
My #1 fave Moonalisa scent. The bar itself is just gorgeous, dark, and exotic. The bath salts are enchanting in the bath. It is very "incensey" in a way, but not too in your face.

Sugar Scrub and Bath Cream Parfaits

Herbalist's Gold

OK - One more thing I just wanted to add for those of you asking about the Herbalist's Gold - I really like it, I use it as a body cream. The one thing you should know before you order is that it is VERY strongly scented (mainly lavender). IF you don't like the scent of Lush Dream Cream - you will not like this at all - just a warning. It is a wonderful cream, but sometimes the fragrance is a bit overwhelming even for me.

Moona's Art

Sea Witch soap
Gorgeous blue and white with sea salt on top. Smells just like the salts. I did find it a bit drying for my skin, but truth be told, I slather so much lotion on after my bath anyway that it doesn't matter to me.

****Speaking of Sea Witch - I discovered an awesome cocktail of the salts with half a bar of Sunnyside (lush) - awesome summer soak - light and refreshing.

Under a Rock Cologne spray
A great scent if you like damp, mossy scents (like me). It has a real earthy feel to it without the kind of "dusty smell" I get from most "earthy" stuff. This is very muddy-green to me, but its very light!

Day at the Spa spray
Love it - a bit like Purple Pooper Eater minus the orange, plus some lavender. BUT- the lavender and pepperminty is also very light - nice for me since too much lavender tends to give me a headache.

Kadesh candle
Honestly, I had no idea her pillars were this tall. It's a few inches taller (but more slender) than the Vodoo Eye one. I like it because its pretty - I really just use candles for decorative purposes. I prefer melts for scent and plain cheap-os for ritual use.

White Chocolate Cream
Smells lovely, although not something I would use just because I'm not in to foody stuff on my bod.

Lemon Pound Cake Lip Butter
YUM! Very creamy, not a "sharp" lemon at all.

Eclipse Man In The Moon Fizzy
Really, really nice blue color and smells fantastic. I haven't used it yet, though.

Cocoa Bliss Potion Lotion
Smells chocolately and something else that I can't quite put my finger on. Very odd scent to me and not something that I would use.

Darkwoods Potion Lotion
For me, this is an Ultra-Masculine scent. Very strong and again, not something that does it for me.

Freya Mist
Forest-y, but with an odd cologne-like tone to it. This one I may need to give some time to see how I really feel about it.

Dark Chocolate Cream
Smells exactly like Godiva chocolates to me.

Tara, the Forest Goddess mist
Another one that I'll need to give some time to think about. First sniff I got a weird plastic/alcohol vibe. Not totally yucky or anything, just different.

Water/Pisces salts
At first I didn't really like the scent but then began to love it. Same with the salts - the scent is conveyed much differently in the salt setting and although I like the way they smell (in the bag - I haven't used any yet), it has an odd plastic undertone to it. The blue color is very pretty, though.

Lavender/Peppermint soap
Nice combo of single-note scents.

Limited Edition Haunted Perfume Set

Summer 2007 Travel Kits

I use Nirvana Calm Balm as either an aromatherapeutic tranquilizer (which works, but I actually find the scent of Under a Rock more calming), or as a base note for other scents. I haven't actually tried it for skin irritation (I use SpiritVeil's Celtic Healing Balm for that), so can't comment there. It's sort of a lighter, sweeter, "happy" scent if you know what I mean. Maybe vaguely citris-y? Um, like a sour-candy smell without the candy? Ug, I am just awful at describing scents! Moona did just have a soothing-type balm for irritation, but it had Balsam Peru in it (which gags me), so I skipped that one. I have used the Egyptian Royal Jelly on dry, itchy patches of skin (if I brush my bare leg or foot against tumbleweeds, I get hives) and it works really, really well. I've tried it for rashie - under the boob - bra irritation too and it helped there as well. For hot, moist, sweaty irritation, I like the dusting powders she makes.

Chill Pill Soap

Madame de Mal Voodoo Eye Candle
I love it - the only downside is that I never want to burn it! The Dragon's Blood scent is to die for!!

Tears of Heliades solid perfume
The jar I ordered isn't done yet, but she did send me a sample of this. Its very smokey, but in a lighter way than her Egyptian Royal Jelly - I like it very much, its a very "me" scent.

Body Powders - Chypre and Midsummer Night's Dream
Both scents are lovely, very delicate, and not "perfumey" at all. These are also very smooth and silky - no clumpy bits or sharp stuff.

Bath Potpourri
In this order I got Titania, Jade Frog Rejuvinator, and Lemon Grove - While they all smell lovely, I'm not sure that they add all that much to the bath. To appreciate the scent, I had to use them alone (any other product overpowers them), and I would just rather soak with a bit of soap and a bit of moisturizing stuff in the tub.

Magical Bath Elixer - Esmerelda's Emerald Isle
Not a huge fan of this one. The green scent is very grassy/weedy. It is nice to have the option of using this to cocktail in some bubbles, but I haven't found it to add very much. It is gorgeous, though - imagine green Pepto Bismal - this is the same texture as that, with a light, grassy-green color, a hint of irridescence, and a teensy bit of glitter. I have Cypress Moon coming in the next order, so maybe that scent will be a bit more "me".

4-In-One (not sulfite free) in Water/Pisces and Calming
Very nice to use as bubble bath, liquid hand soap, shampoo, etc. I found it to be comparable to Lush Shower Gels in terms of shampoo (I use Tramp a lot), its a bit runnier, but works just as well. The Water/Pisces, I admit, didn't live up to the high hopes I had for it. While the fragrance is pleasant, its just not as complex scent as I had imagined. The Calming is wonderful! Its a very fresh, clear - double note of Cedar and Juniper. No smokey, incensey, grassy undertones at all. I cocktailed this with Tramp and Green Day and - YUM!!!! Deep, woodsy, bathing bliss!!!!! I do want to get a pump for the Pisces to use as liquid soap in the powder room.

Potion Lotions in Cauldron and Temple
The lotions are nice, basic body lotions - they do their job and don't irritate my skin. The Cauldron scent I'm on the fence about - I don't dislike it, it just doesn't strike the right chords with me - I was expecting the scent to be much darker. The Temple is awesome! I've gotten her bath salts in this scent before - but the scent in the lotion smells totally different - strong, old incense - LOVE IT - I also got this scent in a roll-on premium oil!

Scrying Bath Balls
Way awesome- Ms. MoonaLisa really rocked on these!!!!!! Love the scent, love it in the tub, leaves my skin soft, and very meditative to gaze at the water. The bathtub pic I posted was right after the water drained - but everything rinsed away easily with plain water - I didn't have to scrub it or anything.

Loose Incense Wings to the Soul and Clearing If you've never burned REAL incense before (unlike those 10 for a dollar perfumey pieces of crap they sell at gas stations) - you don't know what you're missing! Clearing is just so warm and rich, its my new favorite! Wings to the Soul is a lighter and sharper scent - this really blissed me out when I burned some while cleaning the kitchen - I just felt very content. These are packaged in little cork-stoppered bottles in a little stamped bag with a tiny plastic spoon. On the minus side - (or the plus side, depending on how you look at it) - she packs so much in to each jar that it is nearly impossible to pry the Clearing out of the jar - its got resins in it that make it stick to itself, and the little plastic spoon just doesn't cut it - I need to use a metal skewer to dig it out of the jar. The Wings to the Soul is more powder base - and just scraping it a bit with the spoon loosens it up.

Lime in the Coconut Lip Butter
Nice for the lips, and the scent is kind of cool in a novelty sort of way - but its really overpowering, with it on my lips I can't smell anything else but Limes and Coconuts.

Soothing Foot Balm
Nice, I'm using this every night on my feet. They aren't all dried out in the morning and my tootsies are getting a bit softer.

Herbalist's Gold
Love it - that's it - I just love it - its like rubbing herbally/lavender scented liquid silk all over and it does sink in (slowly, though).

Herbes de Provence soap
Gorgeous purple and white and the scent is very light and complex. Kind of like natural lavender - only better.

Bath Bombs - Roses are Red, Violets are Blue and Dr. Bombay
RARVAB is one of my faves - the floral scent is so light and natural - not fake, gag-me, perfumey, old-lady floral at all. Its a very sophisticated scent even though its so simple. Dr. Bombay - yum! Orangey-Clovey and becoming a staple around here.

Sea Witch Salts
Another staple - I won't live without it!!!!

Purple Pooper Eater Spray
Smells like crisp peppermint (not creamy like Haggenbath) and oranges - and it works great on odors (I even spritzed some in my kitchen after garlic-sauteeing-overload). And the bottle is cute too!!!

Dr. Bombay Soap
Lovely, creamy, beautiful really - but the fragrance translates slightly stronger in the soap as compared to the bomb - a bit too heavy on the clovey/spiceiness for me. So pretty, though - I cut
some of it up into individual cubes for the powder room.

Tamera's Tamer hair pomade
Nice, works well to tame my wispy's but I think the Royal Jelly works just as well for me. Plus, it kind of smells like bananas to me - must be the Balsam Peru.

Man-In-The-Moon bath fizzy in Blood Moon
The yummiest smelling blood orange ever! However, there was so much red glitter in this sucker I'm hesitant to use the one she sent along as a freebie. Massive amounts of red glitter EVERYWHERE! This puppy makes Fairy Jasmine look absolutely bland - for 2 days all of us girls here were covered in red glitter that resembled a heat rash, so, um, didn't so much care for the overall effect of this one - but they are cute to look at!

Vodoo Eye Candle

The "regular" salts aren't quite as therapeutic as the Sea Witch. They smell really nice, and the salt itself has therapeutic properties, but just not quite the same. I've tried them in Temple, Bohemian Velvet, Moonlit Garden, and she's sent me samples of a couple different ones. Each packet (they come 3 to an order) is enough for one bath. I like the Bohemian Velvet b/c I'm just in love with that scent, and the Temple salts are what got me into that scent as well. Since they come in little baggies, these would also be great for traveling. I'm a huge fan of Sea Witch Salts, but it is nice to have an alternative sometimes - especially with all of the different scents, plus I've used her salts in things like pomanders and candlescapes, too.

Queen Bee Soap

Egyptian Royal Jelly
Can't stop sniffing it - mmmmmmm
I put a teensy tiny little bit of this on an earthy smelling tart I was about to burn (weird tart cocktailing - my newest thing) - God, I love it even more now.

Chill Pill Soap
Nice scent - can't tell you anything about its cleansing properties, though since I refuse to use it. It is so goregeous (I looks just like one of those Hubble photographs of a far-away nebula) I put it on its own special soap dish above my bath so I can stare at it while I bathe.

Sea Witch Orb -
I love the way this smells. Reminds me of an old Italian powder we used to use all the time in baths, as an antacid, or just to eat like candy (yea, strange kids grow up to be strange adults - we really do).

The Maniacal Mamie's Art of Poisoning Collection

Dark Waters Scrying Bath Bomb
The scent was very light for me - sort of a vague incensey/citrusy, maybe (I'm terrible at describing scents - I swear I get smell hallucinations all the time). My skin, came out very soft and moisturized, but not in a greasy way at all. I would compare it to the effects of a Dr. Bombay bomb - just nice (I did still have to moisturize after the bath, though - I live in a very arid place). The water wasn't black either - more like a dark creamy grey - like a dark thunder cloud.

An Incense Sampler

Halloween 2008 Goodies

Voodoo Dust Milk Bath packets, Fortune Tellers Hand Soap, Sugar Skull bath fizzie, Dementia salts, and Gargoyle bath fizzie.

I love the Royal Jelly! It's very rich, woody smelling (I use it sometimes as perfume - woody is the only way I can think of to describe it - really almost a burnt wood aroma to my nose), and my skin drinks it up. The packaging is gorgeous, even opening it is a treat - its an amber jar with a cork stopper in it sealed with wax - very posh. At first, when you put it on, it has a sort of oily quality - but that disappears quickly, and my skin just feels soft. It does have a fairly dark reddy brown color and I do notice the slightest glowy tint when its on my skin (but I'm really fair to begin with).

I keep it out on my bathroom counter just because I like to look at it! For me, it really is more of a "special occasion" thing than a daily product, though. I hope this helps at least a little, this is actually kind of tough to describe!

About Me

Moonalisa's products are pretty much the only bath and body things I use now. I've tried so many different e-tailers and major brands and frankly, Moo's Poo is the BEST!

In general, I do not like straight-up Patchoulli (although I do adore Tramp from Lush), foody sweet scents, or heavy Lavender, I also don't like Balsam Peru which smells like yucky bananas to me or heavy honey scents. I cannot use any product containing cocoa butter due to bad skin side-effects.

I like incensey-scents like Frankincense, Dragon's Blood and Copal. Resiny scents, forest scents like Cedar and Sandalwood and Pine, and Earthy, mossy, "dirt" kind of scents. Florals are OK, as long as they are light and realistic.

My absolute favorite Moona scents/products - My staples:

Sea Witch - salts, soap, bath parfait, and orbs. Indescribeable - fresh and clean without being "soapy" or "perfumey".

Maniacal Mamie's - everything except for the soap which has a layer of honey in it that kind of ruins it for me. The other products smell like you just walked in to a florist's refrigerator - light, fresh, dewey roses and green notes.

Tears of Heliades - solid perfume, it's just so rich and warm and resiney.

Oracle - another solid perfume. It's a lighter and fresher scent, vaguely citrisy.

Soothing Foot Balm - awesome moisture

Nirvana Calm Balm - a light and refreshing scent to soothe the nerves.

Stone Cold Lake - *dies* - originally in bath bombs, also had some from Moona in soaps and a candle. So soothing and refreshing.

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue - bath bombs with just a touch of very light, fresh floral. NOT fake or perfumey at all.

Under A Rock Cologne Spray - mossy and earthy and fresh and light. To die for.

Egyptian Royal Jelly - a wonderful moisturizer for problem areas and creamy perfume all in one. It smells like a burning campfire of exotic woods. For those of you familiar with Lear from BPAL, it's a bit similar to that, only richer.

Selene, the Dreaming Fairy - this is so nice - just light and a touch spicey.

Bohemian Velvet - My absolute FAVORITE soap!! Very hippie-incensey but not gaggy-patchoulli at all. The soap itself is almost too gorgeous to use - deep burgandy red. This scent is also available in bath salts and potion lotion.

Mabon Bath Salts - the most wonderful incensey scent in the universe. I'd sell my soul for a lifetime supply of this.

Temple - the salts are a wonderful, rich incense. I have a roll on of the perfume too, but it doesn't translate quite as well in the oil form with my body chemistry.

Haunted - This was a very limited edition perfume that is just to DIE for. I am saddened that the recipe was lost and no more will be forthcoming.

Incense - ALL OF THEM. Seriously, they're that good.

Fiori de Sicilia Lip Balm - YUMMY!

Herbal Mercy - Wonderful, herbal, facial scrub.

Other Likes - Kadesh, Essence of Slug, Luna Regia, Dragon's Blood, Pumpkin Soap, Queen Bee Soap, Dr. Bombay Bombs, Little Boy Blue bombs, Lavender/Peppermint Soap, Herbes de Provence Soap, Priestess of the Sacred Isle, and Amber/Rose Scrub.
