Book of Shadows / Grimoire
To put this in a very basic and delicate manner ~ you can buy books that call themselves a book of shadows, but very regularly, you will find that the knowledge is not what you seek.
Traditionally a Book of Shadows, or a Grimoire, is used to store either personal or a covens' information on any magic done, or anything unusual you've seen, or anything mystical you've come across.
This can then be passed down generations for them to learn from and add to or create their own. I have been handed one down and have created my own.
When creating a Book of Shadows, bear in mind it is for your own personal use, a little like a diary.
