I'm a geek and proud, and female!
I am a proud geek - I wear geek on my sleeve, much like I do my music and various art forms, and I feel no one should be ashamed of how they feel or what they are and society can go away and accept that people are individuals!
Please feel free to comment, browse etc. let me know if there's anything I should be featuring - I want this lens to be as universal as possible.
Being a female Geek in the UK and a programmer, computer builder etc. means a lot of a stigmatism as far as getting a job in the right trade. Countless times I've applied for jobs and rarely got an interview - when I do get an interview, they're staring at my legs or tits, that's in sensible clothing like trousers & proper blouse to the chin! It's like they've never been out and seen a girl/female ever before!
Do all geeks like gadgets? I love gadgets, but then I guess that makes me a gadget geek more than a run-of-the-mill computer geek.

Geeks According to the Dictionary
1. a carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.
2. a peculiar or offensive person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual.
3. an expert in computers (a term of pride as self-reference, but often considered offensive when used by outsiders.)
4.
1. A person regarded as foolish, inept, or clumsy.
2. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.
[I'd love to be the 'Carnival Performer' type of Geek, sounds like fun, or just Ozzy Osbourne]
