The First Day Of Spring

Morning Has Broken
Sung by Cat Stevens
Morning Has Broken Lyrics
As Sung by Cat Stevenslyrics by Eleanor Farjeon
Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the word
Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass
Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day

Dedicated To The Memory Of The Reverend Jack Crandall

Jack was the first person to expose me to this beautiful song. He was a very special man who touched many people. I am proud that I was one of them.
Jack's daughter, Lea, made this wonderful website as a tribute to her dad and it contains some of his sermons. She will be adding more of his meaningful sermons so that he can continue to touch our lives.
Reverend Jack Crandall
I hope you will click the link above and read Jack's words.
My Friend, John, Remembers Jack
That's a wonderful idea... dedicating this lens to Jack! I'll share a poem I wrote to him to celebrate and commemorate his 30th year in the ministry on 5/22/93 when we were at NACP. You know he loved sailing...I know you can relate to the rest! He was and is such a special "light" in all of our lives!
To Jack Crandall from John Sitton
Crandall _____ Maker of words!
Strummer of cerebral chords...
Reaching and tacking...
Navigator for our souls!
May you always share your gift,
Which helps us find glimpses of ourselves...
In the light of truth!
And May your sails always...
Be filled with a gentle wind!

- Thankyou for bringing "Morning has broken" back for me..my late husband and i married on St.Valentines Day 14/02/1987 and i insisted on walking down the aisle of St. Marys church Rotherhithe to it rather than the traditional "Here comes the bride" as it has always been my favourite hymn ever since primary school..after we were wed the whole congregation sang "Glad that i live am i for the sky is blue"..it was a momentous day..sadly my husband George passed away almost 13 years ago but i am sure he would approve of me mentioning our wedding day here on this lens..Thankyou for being part of my spiritual moment today x Tina

- I love the song, Morning Has Broken. I was introduced to it by my High School music teacher and then as a recording by Cat Stevens. How surprised I was to later find it in a Hymnal. It is a song that makes you want to perch out on a limb with the songbirds and sing about spring. Morning Has Broken goes so well with spring and the lovely flowers growing in your garden.

- My goodness... thank you Ohme and Michey for your complementary words. I really hope everyone who visits or revisits this lens will click on the link 'Reverend Jack Crandall' and gain some grasp of who Jack was and is! As all of us who knew him could have anticipated, Jack shaped his life as a messenger of God who also had cancer... in the same "down to earth", magnificent and compelling way that he had done before cancer. Lea has done an excellent job of reconstructing important parts of those years... and again... Ohme... this is so fitting and meaningful and thoughtful for you to dedicate this lens to Jack! I suspect that he is wearing an appreciative grin... and listening to this conversation with a "fist pump" and a... Yeah!
