Morning stretching exercises 1 - The Kneeling Achilles Stretch
A superb general easy leg stretch and my favourite as it will do several areas of the leg in one go.
A good general easy leg stretch and the best as it can do several elements of the leg in one fell swoop.
1) Kneel with one foot on the ground and put your weight over the knee.
2) With your heel on the ground lean forwards.
3) This stretch does place a fair bit of stress on your Achilles so lean itnto it gradually.
4) Keep in the stretch for at least 20 seconds, I prefer a minute, then repeat with your opposite leg.
If you like, you will find you may put some force into your thigh area and so get some good groin stretching going too. Don't push to hard, it is intended to be a morning stretch, warm-up or down or rehabilitation exercise as opposed to a dancers flexibility exercise. I find it to be quite relaxing.

A nice one for the back and all over really. I advise against this one if you have back problems.
1) Sit on the edge of your chair with your feet on the ground.
2) Bend over, reaching both hands toward your feet.
3) Arch your back.
4) Hold for a count of ten.
5) Do five more times.

Morning stretching exercises 3 for the neck
A simple neck flexer. Take care not to push too hard!
1) Stay seated on the edge of your bed with your feet on the ground.
2) Turn your neck in a circle, touching your ears to your shoulders.
3) Rotate slowly in a clockwise direction 5 times.
4) Turn slowly in a counter clockwise direction 5 times.

Morning Stretch 5 - The Standing Calf Stretch Video
Many people find that their calf muscles are very stiff in the morning (I do). This is one of my fave morning stretches to iron them out and flex up. It's also a great warm up and cool down stretch for workouts and running.
1) With one knee bent stand and put your other leg out front.
2) Point the toes toward your body then lean forwards.
3) Be sure to keep the back straight.
4) Put your hands on your bent knee and ensure your your toes are pointing up as if you point them to the side you'll put uneven tension on the calf.
5) Hold it at least 20 seconds and repeat with your other leg.

Morning stretching exercises 5 Arms and Shoulders
A real "ahhhh that's nice" one to stretch your arms, shoulders and upper chest
1) Stand next to your bed.
2) Lace your fingers together.
3) Raise your hands above your head, palms upward.
4) Lift up stretching your rib cage.
5) Hold for a count of 10.
6) Repeat 5 more times

Morning stretching exercises 6 Touch those toes
An oldie but goodie and self explantory pretty much. Don't push to hard, if you can't reach your toes don't worry you're still stretching!
1) Remain standing next to your bed.
2) Bend over and touch your fingers to your toes while keeping your knees straight.
3) Maintain for a count of 10.
4) Do it again 5 more times.

Morning stretching exercises 7 for the back
For the more flexible. Don't do if you have any back issues.1) Lie flat on the floor
2) Place your arms at your side
3) Slowly and gradually raise your legs over you head
4) Carry on and raise your legs until your toes touch the ground behind your head
5) Hold the position for 15 seconds
6) Do three times
