Defining Moroccan Style

Moroccan style is about comfort and easy living inspired by the outdoors. It's colors and designs come from a varied ethnic history influenced by the Berber culture, French Colonials, and Islam. Hallmarks of Moroccan style include large lanterns, lush fabrics, and colorful ceramics.

I love the look and feel of the products listed in this lens and hope you will be inspired to add some Moroccan flair to your home!

ALL proceeds from this page are now going to the Mission to Morocco Fund~raiser drive!

A Very Brief Introduction to Morocco

Morocco is an independent country on the coast of North Africa, formerly a French colony. Throughout history many cultures have left their mark on the nation's native Berber population, influencing local food, music, arts and of course design.

The mini-map at right shows the distribution of ethnic/language groups in Morocco, with the dark gold representing Arabic, the orange Berber, and the pale gold areas of mixed influence.

Just as you have said "cultures have left their mark on the nation's native Berber population", Morroco, in turn, has done the same. The influence in southern Spain is incredible! The colours are so rich and warm and the architecture is awesome. It makes one conjure up images of times long past. Nice lens.
