"A teacher to the Last."
The subject of my favorite book, Tuesdays With Morrie, Morrie Schwartz was a humble, wise, and deeply loving person. He is an inspiration to me in my life and I strive to live the way he did. With a zest for life and love in my heart.
So I hope you enjoy my lens. I hope you learn a little, give a little, and love a little. Thanks!
Here are some great quotes from Morrie:
" Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too--even when you're in the dark. Even when you're falling."
" It's not to late to... ask yourself if you really are the person you want to be, and if not, who you do want to be. "
A Little Bio
Born December 20, 1916, he graduated from New York's City College, and won a fellowship to the University of Chicago, where he earned both a master's and Ph.D. in sociology. In 1959, he began a lifelong career teaching sociology at Brandeis University. He continued to teach until he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (or ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease). He was soon being interviewed by Ted Koppel on Nightline (One of the highest rated shows on Nightline). That's when Mitch Albom (an old student of his from Brandeis University) saw him. Mitch ended up reunited with his old professor and taking part in Morrie's "final class" before he passed away in 1995 (on a Tuesday).

- I read "Tuesdays with Morrie" a few years ago, just about the time I found my own teacher, my own Morrie, a friend who had become disabled. It's been over three years and I still visit with my teacher/friend every week. And I'm still learning. There really isn't any experience quite like this! Though my friend is quite different from Morrie, I could identify with so, so much in the book.

- I just finished reading, "Tuesdays with Morrie," and I have to admit that I would take lessons away from that book every day. I would tell myself not to let my job get to me because if I were to be told that I was dying next week, my job would be the first thing I would quit and the last thing on my mind. Morrie was wonderful at putting things into perspective; you need to find a balance between the things we have to do in order to survive (aka working) and the things that keep our hearts and souls alive (family and friends). I told my dad that before I was even done reading the book, I wanted to read it again. Only this time I would take notes!
