Morrowind's graphics are pretty dated so it sounds worth giving a shot. Thanks for bringing this to my attention as that was a game I was thinking of playing in the near future.

  • Kangaroo_Jase Nov 12, 2011 @ 5:33 am | delete
fascinating, game creators spend months creating a game, now there are those creating a mod of a previous game to go into its new version. Cannot fathom the amount of effort required. Its huge!

  • swalchko Jun 24, 2011 @ 9:23 pm | delete
Pretty awesome. I've fiddled with graphic overhauls of Morrowind, but they mostly drain my resources and cause weird gameplay issues. Hopefully this one is better

I love both games, but Morrowind is my personal favorite. An interesting concept like this flipped around (so instead of exploring Morrowind in Oblivion, exploring Oblivion in Morrowind) would be the closest thing to heaven on earth!

  • Chadrew Apr 28, 2009 @ 3:14 pm | delete
Great stuff! Morrowind remains to this day the most impressive video game I've ever played. I got it few years ago and played it for a whole summer. It was amazing, the kind of freedom it offered, you could explore everywhere and find new quests and books and whatnot. Oblivion didn't impress me as much for some reason :) So I'm all for playing Morrowind with Oblivion's graphics!
  • TheBigCheese Apr 28, 2009 @ 11:32 am | delete
Does the Morrowind world actually have quests and stuff, or can you just walk around in it? Either way, it looks sweet. But it would be even more sweet if it was a fully functioning Morrowind.

    Hi zach,,

I have installed the morroblivion, run the conversion, checked both the .esm and morroblivion_fr.esp and put them on top of mod list using OBMM.
I went to Imperial Bay and talk to the man on the ship (morrowind ship), but there were no other topics, only "rumors", how can I fix this.??

I installed Oblivion (standard) with patch, Unnoficial Oblivion Patch and another mods.

Morroblivion v0.96 is out, there is a forum at http://www.grwn.net/phpBB3/index.php about Morroblivion and all surrounding mods that hosts debate and downloads if you are interested ;)
  • Termisk8er Feb 22, 2008 @ 2:02 pm | delete
very true, but i say keep working at this, it may be a good while but whenever Morrowind looses its liscense as a registered product, (you know like old games such as Freespace 2) this will be totally legal. It may take a decade though :)
  • Jeff Feb 13, 2008 @ 2:50 pm | delete
New versions will be posted here? If not, where?
  • thomasz Feb 12, 2008 @ 9:43 pm | delete
I like this lens. 5 stars to you.
  • Anon Feb 11, 2008 @ 3:19 am | delete
"They probably" is the key phrase. I think you took "doesn't like" too literally. It's not like they saw the program and thought it was distasteful, I meant they didn't want it up - for one reason or another. Thus, that IS the reason for the removal, the question is why EXACTLY they don't. Yes, I realize it's a licensing issue but they haven't really state what that issue is. I've read the whole speel on TESNexus, but it didn't answer a thing.
ZachG has a good point. Whatever the issue is, it would be easy to fix with fan-made resources. My personal Morrowind looks and plays absolutely nothing like the original. Let's hope the Morroblivion programmers consider that, talk to some modders, OK it with Bethesda, and come out with a fresh version.
  • ZachG Feb 7, 2008 @ 1:10 pm | delete
I don't see where there's a problem; the mod is for personal use and nobody's profiting from it or exploiting it. People just want a way to play awesome Morrowind with the Oblivion engine. If the problem is with the copyright on the meshes and textures, there are custom-made texture/mesh replacers available for Morrowind. Maybe the mod could be packaged with that stuff included to eliminate any copyright issues.
  • Kald Feb 7, 2008 @ 11:16 am | delete
No, Anon, Here's the real reason for removal:
Bethesda licensed resources for their game. Rather than create everything themselves, the probably used a mesh or texture here and there from another source under an agreement that those resources would be used in Morrowind and Morrowind only. By creating a mod that pushes those resources into Oblivion, that license is being violated, and it's Bethesda's legal obligation to do their due-diligence in killing that project. Whether they like it or not has no meaning...
  • Anon Feb 7, 2008 @ 4:20 am | delete
Here's the reason for removal: Bethesda doesn't like it. Seriously, they've put out notices on all the major mod sites to take it down. It's a MASSIVE shame because it would have only been a matter of time before the program was perfected and Morrowind could have been completely playable in Oblivion. Not to mention all the badass mods used in Morrowind that could have crossed over. I fail to see how this could possibly hurt Bethesda. If nothing else, it would increase sales of both Morrowind and Oblivion. As usual, when it makes too much sense it gets shut down.
  • Savant Feb 6, 2008 @ 10:05 am | delete
Its actually down on tesNexus, and Planet Elder Scrolls. Is there anyway to get it here?
  • Lindo Feb 6, 2008 @ 6:45 am | delete
