Morticia Pots for Dead Flowers

The perfect container for your Dried Flower and Dead Flower Arrangements

Ever wondered what to use for those flower arrangements that you want to let dry? You want something that looks elegant, tasteful, and maybe a wee bit spooky, but the container you commit can't change once the flower arrangement has dried up. Too fragile and can easily break or crumble. So, you don't want to use your best crystal or bud vase, but you do want something that looks good.

The Moriticia Pot is just the thing. Whether your flowers are full blooms or budless stems, the Morticia Pot will hold them with the same grace and elegance that you've seen on the Addams Family television show. The pot will last as long as the dried flowers, possibly much longer.

The Morticia Pot is one type of container for the Dead Flower Art. It is a hand-built stoneware wall vase that looks great in a narrow, tall space or next to a door. Morticia Pots can be similar to this, or they can be free-standing.

Morticia Ain't got Nothin' on Raku

Morticia Pots Wall vAse

Well, maybe she did. Knowing Morticia, she probably had a raku kiln outside in that big back yard. With all those Dead Flowers, she had to know how uber cool and popular her creations would be. Now this isn't her creation, but it is the creation of someone I know well (moi real self, heh)

One lucky Morticia Pot lover will have this set of dreadfully beautiful pots. (Click here to see them) There may be more, but Raku firing takes a while and requires large numbers of Dead Flowers as the organic combustible in the process. So it takes an Addams sized "execution" to achieve such an elegant vase for "live" or "newly dead" flowers, gnarly branches, or dried arrangements.

But we can still enjoy the image...

A Morticia Pot with Pizzaz

Re-fired Raku Wall VaseYou can get spray paint with metallic sparkles, or gilded streaks. These will dress up your Morticia Pot easily and inexpensively. You can also do like I do, and make it from scratch out of stoneware clay. But that takes a large block of clay, a kiln, some glazes, and a place in your house with 220 wiring. Better yet, add a raku kiln outside where you can burn things. Muwahhaaahaaa....

This one was also put through the raku firing, and looked so bad even Morticia woudln't use it. So I re-glazed it and re-fired it in the regular kiln. It finally turned out, and I can use it once I put a hanger of some kind on it.

For you... the spraypaint might be a bit easier.

Another Type of Morticia Pot

Ok, so maybe not hand made, but still beautiful for Dead Flower Bouquets! You can put them in here while live, and if you don't want the vase permanently associated with that specific bouquet you can take it out of this vase just as the water is getting low. Put the dying arrangement in a less expensive vase, split it up, or, erm... remove some blooms?

I just like the name Morticia Pot. Doesn't really matter much what it looks like. :)
