Original Mosaic Textured Acrylic Paintings

This page features my mosaic paintings. I have done a large number of pieces using this process.

Most of these are painted on canvas, a few on wood. I also do this to many of my mounted and canvas prints.

After completing the painting I drop a varnish on each section to create an effect to mimic mosaic tile. It is a tedious process but looks really cool when completed.

I have used several different types of varnishes for this effect throughout the years. A few are listed below.

This piece was donated to support the Progress Energy Art Gallery; New Port Richey, Florida, for the Art In Paradise Annual Fundraiser.

I used a little bit of a different technique with this particular one. Instead of dropping dots on each section, I poured the varnish on to speed up the process. I had to get this finished in a short period of time.

This is a varnish I have used in the past. It is non yellowing, clear gloss, glasslike finish.

Reverse Effect

On this piece I reversed the effect by outlining the sections with dimensional fabric paint.

Both Combined & Other Elements

These are my most recent pieces. I incorporated fabric paint into these as it holds it's form and when varnished has a stunning effect.

The piece shown below is from my Saints series. I also used glitter & sequins in a few of these; they sparkle and shine. My husband built the frames with recessed adjustable lights to shine down on the artwork.

Below are some close shots of the detail. Click on the images for a closer view or visit the lnks below the images to read about the paintings!
