Mosquito Nets Are Saving Lives!
- A $10 Mosquito Net Is Making Charity Cool
- Donating $10 to buy a mosquito net to save an African child from malaria has become a hip way to show you care, especially for teenagers. The movement is like a modern version of the March of Dimes, created in 1938 to defeat polio, or like collecting pennies for Unicef on Halloween.
- Expectant mothers get mosquito nets | Katine | guardian.co.uk
- Richard M Kavuma is present as Amref hands out anti-malaria mosquito nets to Katine locals. A key focus is on supplying nets to pregnant mothers, whose unborn babies can be damaged if they contract malaria.
- TED | TEDBlog: Ending malaria: We're not spending enough, or evenly enough
- As Jacqueline Novogratz says in her 2005 TEDTalk: "You can't talk about poverty today without talking about malaria bednets."
Yesterday, the Guardian UK reported on a massive new study of malaria prevention -- which found several alarming gaps in the global drive to wipe out this disease, especially in the poorest countries. Read the study's press release here. From the Guardian story:
