Essential Guitar Pedals

While everyone has their own guitar "sound", we all have our influences. Trying to get their sound can be daunting, and even expensive, especially since we don't just have one favorite guitarist. So, when choosing gear for your pedalboard, why not stick to the basics? The gear found on most pedalboards? You'll find certain pedals will appear on a lot of musician's boards.     My favorite pedal by far is the Korg OVD-1. I purchased it in 1984 and used it with my Garnet amplifier. It has a similar sound to the TS-808 but the bottom end is even tighter, in my opinion. I have been looking for a replacement for it for over 10 years, but have not had any success in finding one, so I had to retire the pedal had to settle for the ToneWorks 105od, which works ok, but it's just not the same.

Some Essential Pedals

Ibanez Tube Screamer
This pedal can be found on many pedals, including Mike McCready of Pearl Jam. Even Trey Anastasio of Phish has two of these on his pedalboard!
