The Mother Gothel Exclusive Limited Edition 17 Inch Deluxe Doll
is a special collectible doll released exclusively by the DisneyStore for the movie Tangled. She is one of the first good villain dolls in years, and a far better creation than most of the available Princess versions.
There were only ever 1500 dolls sold, and they sold out almost instantly - I was lucky enough to grab one, and I'll be sharing photos of her here. If you want to collect the The Mother Gothel Limited Edition Doll, then you'll have to head to eBay or Amazon to buy her second hand.
The Mother Gothel Limited Edition Doll was released in Disney Stores in the US on March 29th, the same day as the Tangled DVD release to select Disney Stores in Canada and the USA and directly from DisneyStore.com. It was very hush hush, and was meant to be a surprise along with the release (a 'Secret Street Date').

The History of the Release of the Mother Gothel L/E Doll
She was part of a run of only 1500 dolls (for now) and designed by one of the character artists from Disney. From what I can see, the face and iconic curly hair is more accurate, but the clothing is less accurate, than the OOAK doll. She matches the Limited Edition Rapunzel.
The mistake on the UK site explains why there was no news for the US until the 'real' release! On March 29th, she was sold in select US and Canadian Disney Stores - only around ten per store - as a surprise release, along with the release of Tangled. It looks like about 300 were sold in the UK, the remaining 1200 in the USA and Canada.
She sold out online in the US by the end of the 29th, UK site had technical issues, so she was not released until the 30th on DisneyStore.uk but has now sold out.
How Accurate Is The Limited Edition Doll?
Does the Mother Gothel doll look like Mother Gothel? What are the differences in the costumes and features?
Based on my Mother Gothel costume analysis there are a few differences between the doll and the screen version.

How Much Does the Mother Gothel Limited Edition Doll Cost?
Can I even still buy her?
As the Mother Gothel Limited Edition Doll completely sold out within a couple of days, you cannot buy her from the DisneyStore anymore. The only way to buy this doll is as a collector's item on eBay. There she sells for somewhere between US$200-$500.
While this may settle down over time, it may also go up as the glut of 'spares' vanishes.

How does she differ from the limited edition version? Well, her red dress isn't patterned, or studded with sparkly bits, and her cloak and gown appear to be made of a cheaper, lighter polyester fabric, rather than heavy embroidered brocade and velvet.
She doesn't have as much hair, her cloak doesn't trail out behind her, and she doesn't have long draping sleeves. Her belt also only has one hanging length down the front...
