I like Mother Gothel a lot, cause she is a different villain. I think that for once the villain has a very believable motive behind her deeds. When she spends time with Rapunzel, I can see that she cares for her, but is blinded by the power her "daughter" has.

The "good" in Gothel was to confuse Rapunzel and the viewer from who she really is. She has no good thoughts in her. I know because I had experiences like this with someone and I don't feel good at all about that person. They act nice and get nasty which is confusing and causes even more pain than someone who is flat out evil. This "niceness" is another manipulation device. That is just not a good person.

Mother Gothel was extremely selfish and self-serving. Her vanity led her to destroy lives and cause heartache and pain within an entire kingdom for nearly 2 decades!

This woman stole a child from her parents. That is the apitimy of evil. No act can be lower. How can anyone say that she is anything OTHER than evil?
