    I thinks she is a more complicated Disney Villain. Her character is more fleshed out then evil Lady Tremaine, and as a chance to be more sympathetic.

    Passing through the Entertainment category for the back-to-school Angel quest. Mother Gothel is very much deserving of numerous blessings, but I can give only one.

    Wow, this must be the most complex Disney Villain I've ever seen. Most times, you're never told where a villain went wrong, just that they're irredeemably evil. Mother Gothel on the other hand, as much as Tangled tries to tell you that she's irredeemably evil, the beginning of the movie actually tells you where she went wrong. To give that sort of character development in a villain is incredibly amazing. I hope that more villains can make me think like this in the future.

    I, personally, don't care for Disney. I believe that Disney adds sex and violence to fairy tales that read to or by children invite them to use their imagination to create their own dramas.

    This is a wonderful lens about Mother Gothel. I never realized before that she had a name. Thank you so much for sharing your perspective on the latest Disney film.

    I have to admit, I did a bit of a doubletake on your objection to Disney - i always thought they took most of the sex and violence OUT of the fairy tales! (Cinderella's stepsister's cutting off the ends of their feet, Ariel dissolving into foam heartbroken, Rapunzel's pregnancy and the prince getting blinded... that sort of thing :D )

    Really an excellent and thorough lens. I liked Mother Gothel a lot, she was quite witty despite her many flaws.

    We haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm all set to let Mother Gothel become my most favorite Disney villain witch :-) I'm sure we'll see it soon.
