Bond, have fun, create memories
A little girl, asked where her home was, replied, "where mother is." Keith L. Brooks
As the mother of 2 daughters, I've thought about the day when they would leave and explore the world's opportunities, nurture their careers and dreams, and even create their own families. In the meantime, I create memories with my girls (a tween and a teen), and cherish the days that we spend together.

Create a flower or herb garden
Designate a section of your garden, patio or yard for this project. Ask them to choose the flowers or herbs they want to grow, sketch out the plans for plant placement, and start planting and nurturing your mother-daughter garden. Help them grow a green thumb at Windowbox.com - a great resource for container gardening.

Cut out shapes of your photos or find great scrapbooking materials to use as backgrounds. Safety scissors and non-toxic glue are recommended for your young child, of course. Try creating the background of a future event - for example, create a background for a yet unplanned vacation (perhaps Hawaii). Decorate the page, but without any photos. This is a great idea for 'creating the future' with your child - something definitely to live into and plan together!

Co-create an art piece
Find a large canvas at an arts store like Joann.com
. Encourage your daughter to choose paints (watercolor or oil), brushes, glitter, or other art supplies. Start creating with each other, around each other. Complement or contrast your styles. No one style or color is the 'right one'. You'll get really present to the differences or similarities you and daughter have just with this great, simple project.
Remember to keep this light, and enjoy this moment together. Celebrate the piece - remember, it's the journey and experience that counts.

Learn an instrument and make music
My youngest daughter and I are learning to play the guitar together. We're learning songs and are planning to perform together by the end of the year. It's a wonderful opportunity for both of us to bond and create great memories. Find Guitars
here at instrumentpro.com.
Become business partners
My oldest daughter plans to be a restaurateur - she wants to open her first restaurant in 2 years. Think of businesses that you can assist your daughter in opening - what are her passions, her dreams? Assist with business planning, location searching, and of course, with financing. Some business ideas don't require a location - make jewelry together and sell them online. Create handmade invitations and cards, design t-shirts to sell on CafePress.com.

I love my mother as the trees love water and sunshine - she helps me grow, prosper, and reach great heights. ~Adabella Radici
Take a cooking class together
Check your local community services, or even stores with culinary workshops like Sur La Table or Williams-Sonoma. Culinary store workshops offer 1 to 3 hour workshops, creating gourmet meals or 1-item treats. When you get home, cook or bake your newly-learned meal or treat and video tape the process. Share it with family and friends, and let them know about your fabulous day with your daughter.
