Making Sure Mom Feels Special on Her Day
Anna Jarvis initialized Mother's Day in honor of her mother. These days all the complaints are about how commercialized it is, how the florists are hiking prices, how stores are trying to scam everyone, but how can you put a price on showing your mother how much she means to you? It's not a matter of how much or how little you spend on your mom for that one day of the year! Mother's Day, like any other holiday, is as commercialized as you make it. When you were a kid and you just had to have those Nike's because that was what all the kids had, did she say it was "too commercialized"? Or when you just had to have the Nintendo or you'd die, was it "too commercialized"? Any mother would be happy to just spend the day with her children, grab a burger and fries, take her to the park and feed the ducks if you want. Make her a card like you did when you were a kid, take it to her and tell her you love her and you're glad she's your mom, she'll be overwhelmed with that. But for one day of the year, make it all about her and how wonderful she's been. Mom's always do the very best they can for their children their whole lives, so why not do the best you can for one day of the year to show her how much you appreciate her while you still have her. Cause you never know, it just may be the last time you can.

My Most Memorable Mother's Day
My favorite Mother's Day was when my oldest daughter was 7 and my youngest daughter was 3. For a couple of days before, my girls were closeted in their bedroom together and I wasn't allowed to go in. On Mother's Day, I was woken up in the morning to both my girls coming in carrying a tray with a bowl of cornflakes, a glass of milk and dandelions they had picked outside the day before, also cards they had made along with whatever my oldest daughter had made at school for me. It was WONDERFUL!!
Great Gift Ideas for Mom
Who knows maybe she'd love a nice gift basket made specially for her or maybe she's having a nostalgic moment and would love one of the miniature houses from a past favorite tv show or movie. Or maybe you think she needs a nice vacation, Niagara Falls is beautiful in May. Or maybe a nice piece of jewelry or a jewlery box to keep her jewels safe. Whatever you decide make sure it's something that Mom, herself, would like.
