Mother's Day celebrates life

Mother's Day, is one day that really does tug at the heart.
If you are a new Mother, you feel all giddy and happy inside because you are able to be finally be included as a Mother on this very special day.
If you are a Mother, not by blood, but by mentoring, or adopting, you too will feel that wonderful warmth on this special day.
In the old days, Mother meant giving birth.
In today's world, Mother means the love one gives to a child. The giving of oneself to lead the child in it's life.
Many people adopt, and that is so very special to have that much love in your heart to give yourself to a child.
I had a birth Mother, and yet, through the years as I traveled the road of my life, I can add two people in my life as Mother.
Both women so wonderful, so giving , that my heart will be their's forever.
My Mother and the other one that treated me as a daughter are now gone.
But, I am a lucky soul.
I have another in my life, even at this age, that treats me as her daughter.
One does not have to give birth to the child to be a Mother.
Mother's Day, so very special in so many ways

1950's Queen For A Day TV Show Remembered

Mother's were featured on this popular TV show

type=text

I can remember sitting in the living room as a child watching the " Queen For A Day" TV show with my Mother.
My little Brother was four years younger than me.
We sat on the floor at our Mother's feet , watching that show every week.
Each lady featured in the show had a very sad story.
The host interviewed each one, well, he actually prompted the Mother to tell her story.
We would sit and watch transfixed, amazed that someone could have such a sad life.
After each lady had told her story, the audience was the judge.
There was an applause meter...that was very exciting to my Brother and me because it appeared like magic on the TV screen.
The host would point to the Mother , the audience would applaud.
Whichever Mother had the loudest applaud, won.
Well, needless to say, Mom , my Brother and me too, were very excited to be part of this event, even though we were only spectators in our little home.
The lady that won would be draped in a fabulous luxury cape and crowned with a crown surely made of diamonds.
The prizes were beyond belief. Even though we were not getting the prizes, our excitement was the same as if we were.
Some frown on that TV show today, saying it was demeaning to women.
That show gave us all hope that we can someday have wonderful things.
It also helped us realize that others were in need so much more than us.
Yes, Queen For Day is a loving memory for me, every Mother's Day.
My Brother and I always wished we could get our Mom on that show.
After we grew up, we were able to treat her as a special Queen, especially on Mother's Day

Yesteryear's Mother's to today's Mother, the love is forever the same

Times change, Mothers don't

If you stop and think about it, Mothers keep the economy strong.
100 years and more ago, merchants always gave premiums to the lady of the house to entice her to buy their products.
The Mother in Victorian times had her duties that were most important to her.
She wanted to present the best household in her neighborhood.
The best needlework was a must, and well behaved children, most certainly was another merit.
Today's world is not much different.
Oh sure, Mom is out working and her thoughts are on how to beat the traffic to get home in time to be with the kids at dinner.
And although everyone tries to eat at the dinner table together every night, it's not quite that way anymore, unless one is truly determined to make it so.
But, Mothers are still Mothers, they are just on the go more that's all.
In the heart, today's Mother is as dedicated to her family as the Mothers so many years ago

Mothers gone but remembered especially on Mother's Day

The cycle of life is a ring of Mothers

type=text

As the years went by in my life, my Mother's illness took over her life.
And so, I keep the memories on the Mother from my childhood in my heart and soul.
The next woman that treated me like a daughter, was old enough to be my Grandmother, but to me, she was a second Mother.
I was a kid for a long time while walking my road of life. Some people just do not mature, and I was one of them.
Day Dreams and Fairy Tales, adventures were to be had. So while an adult, it was wonderful to have a lady that knew and loved me as I was, no matter what.
We did not see each other very often, but , when we did, I felt loved, I felt safe, I felt content.
And so on Mother's Day, I not only think of my birth Mother, but I think of that other lady too.
So, Mother's Day is for Mother's gone too. Remember them with joy in your heart and smile because she loved you.

Never too old to celebrate Mother's Day

Kindness, love, and compassion, spells Mother

type=text

I still day dream and I still love fairy tales.
Dream Works productions always creates the most amazing animations, it's as though they have tapped into my fantasy world.
So, although not a child anymore, it's wonderful to know, there's still a Mother type figure in my life.
She's a dear little elderly lady with the most fascinating stories of her life.
She hugs me like a Mother hugs a child, and that is truly a blessing to feel at my forever young age.
You are never to old to enjoy that special warmth of motherly instinct.
Don't ever miss the chance to let an elderly person into your heart because they still have that wonderful gift of giving that only can be acquired with age.
Happy Mother's Day to all...not only birth Mothers, adopt Mothers, and not the usual Mothers too...and also Happy Mother's Day to those women who love you, no matter what age you are, or what you do.
