The word "boy" is recorded since 1154. Its etymology is unclear; it is probably related to East Frisian boi, Old Norse bófi, Dutch boef "(criminal) knave, rogue" and German Bube; but an unrecorded Anglo-Saxon word boia = "boy or servant" (possibly from Old French embuié = "servant", past participle of embuier = "to fetter") has been theorized to explain the etymologies of the English placenames Boycott and Boyton as Anglo-Saxon Boia cot "the cottage of the boys or servants" and Boia tun "the farm of the boys or servants".

- LOVE it, especially the pictures....they had me rolling with laughter. I was only blessed with one child, and I prayed every day it would be a boy. 'it' was! I feel that the most important job I had in life was to raise that boy right. Of course I made mistakes, but I've been fortunate to still be here, and able to see the love in his grown up eyes, and NOW knowledge of what parenting is all about, as he has a boy of his own. There ain't nothin' better or more rewarding, in my view, than the relationship of a mother and her son!
