We report on our blog our views and opinions of the way motorcyclists are being treated by some public authorities, who don't seem to recognise the many benefits that motorcycles bring to the environment in terms of relieving road congestion, reducing air pollution and offering a fast, flexible and cheaper mode of transport. Many public authorities have a tendency to treat motorcycles like cars which, in our opinion, is completely wrong.
The policy that we are currently looking at in detail is the newly introduced stealth tax on motorbike and scooter parking in the London Borough of Westminster. We know that this tax is only there to fill up Westminster Council's coffers, and brings no benefits whatsoever to motorcyclists, who are keen to contribute to reducing road congestion and air pollution in Central London. For this reason, we support the No To Bike Parking Tax campaign, which aims to get this ridiculous tax scrapped, before it spreads all over the UK and the European Union.
