Motorhome Australia

Before you begin, or even start planning for that next vacation, allow us to present a suggestion for you to consider. Everyone has heard of Australia, the land of Aborigines (who migrated to the country over 50,000 years ago), Wallabies (small animal similar to a Kangaroo), Kangaroos, Koala Bears, and a people who have their own distinct and unique language. Everyone has heard of, or saw the movie "Crocodile Dundee". Perhaps now it is your time to plan a trip to the "Land Down Under" and experience firsthand the unique flavors and customs, not to mention the destinations, of this wonderful country. And may we suggest that you consider making this a vacation when you rent or hire a camper van, RV, or Motor Home from Camper Travel Australia? But read on for more information on why you should consider this proposal!

The size of the country is about 4,000 km (about 2,500 mi) from east to west and about 3,700 km (about 2,300 mi) from north to south. It is the smallest continent in the world, but the sixth largest country. The capital is Canberra, and the largest city is Sydney; both are located in the southeast.

While the people are often seen as tough, rough and tumble types, once you really meet them they take to you pretty quickly as they are a friendly sort. Another thing to consider is the climate. Contrary to popular belief, the country is not all steamy hot and unfriendly. There are extremes here, just as in other countries, but for the most part the climate ranges from arid to temperate.

With your Campervan rental Australia, one popular destination to consider is Sydney, the country's largest metropolitan area. The city's harbors and ocean beaches offer an ideal setting for yachting, sailing, surfing, swimming, and scuba diving. Bondi Beach to the east of the CBD and Manly Beach to the north of Port Jackson are popular recreation areas. A ring of national parks around Sydney offers spectacular settings for outdoor activities such as bushwalking (hiking). The Taronga Park Zoological Gardens have outdoor-habitat exhibits of endangered animal species and Australian wildlife, all situated on a large site along the Sydney Harbour shore. The Royal Botanic Gardens and Centennial Park are more formal areas of parkland near the CBD.

4 Wheel Drives

Whether it is a campervan hire/rental, or a motorhome hire/rental, there is no better way to see some of the best parts of Australia, and have a real outback experience, than to hire a 4WD. It is important to understand some of the restrictions in place with the operators of the vehicles so you can properly plan your trip.

Each 4WD operator has specific roads which they require you to obtain written permission to use, they use the latest information at hand to advise of the road conditions, and cannot give a commitment to use some roads until you pick up the vehicle, as weather conditions can change.

Camp Sites and Camping for 4 Wheel Drives - Permit Information.

One of the best ways to find the top hidden spots to Camp in, sing that campervan rental/hire or motorhome rental/hire, to really get the benefits of hiring a 4 wheel drive, is to ask a local storeowner or barman etc. Some of the best spots in Australia require a permit, which restricts the numbers of campers and keeps it special. Permits are generally available online or at entry points to the parks. Check the following links for the area you plan to travel to and it will give you the latest permit requirements, costs, and in some cases allow for online bookings.

* Queensland
* New South Wales
* Victoria
* Tasmania
* Northern Territory
* South Australia
* Western Australia

A good book to consider buying can be found at Camps Australia Wide It will assist you in getting to the best spots as well as a bunch of handy tips along the way.

Britz half day 4WD course

If you are interested in hiring a 4 Wheel drive, but need a little more confidence, then the Britz 4WD course is recommended. The course is offered from all 9 of their branches, and will provide you the knowledge of basic 4 wheel driving and take you through a variety of situations. The course costs $290.00 AUD per vehicle (up to 4 people), and takes a half day. It also includes the rental of an outback safety kit for the full duration of your rental. Let Camper Travel know if you're interested in this course.

Baby Seats and Capsules

The following advice is to assist families traveling with one or more children under 8 years old in making sure they pick a campervan rental or motorhome rental vehicle that best meets their needs.

Camper Travel tip: for babies under 6 months old, have a look at the Britz, Maui and KEA campervan rental and motorhome rental vehicles as they can accommodate secure capsules, for families with older children have a look at the Apollo 4 and 6 berth as it has a great layout for families and a TV / DVD player.

In Australia the law requires that children are safely secured in the correct method / seatbelt, some campervan hire and motorhome hire vehicles cannot fix these seats, and therefore are not appropriate campervan rentals or motor home rentals for some families. If you are traveling with young children make sure you check which campervan hire or motorhome hire vehicle best meets your needs. Please feel free to let us know the age of your family members, and your travel dates, and we will provide the most suitable campervan rental or motorhome rental quote for your consideration.

Up to 6 months old, babies require a Capsule, not a baby seat. While some vehicles have the anchor points to use a capsule, not all of the operators provide for the rental of them, so you would need to use your own or hire / purchase from another source. Please ask us if you have any questions.

This table will let you know which motorhome rentals & campervan rentals have a toilet and shower, and its capacity to take baby capsules, seats and boosters. Click on the vehicle link to get the whole layout and vehicle specifications.
