Motorola Video Baby Monitor Reviews
If you're thinking of buying a video baby monitor then you need to check out this Motorola video baby monitor reviews lens. Here I will discuss the functions and features of Motorola's top two bestselling models, the MBP36 with its 3.5" screen and the MPB33 with its 2.8" screen, as well as their pros and cons.
Motorola as most of you will be aware are well-known for their good quality, high end cellular phones and smartphones. They have now entered the baby product market with their audio and video baby monitors. In 2008 Motorola appointed Binatone as the global licensee of video baby monitors and photo frames, and North American licensee of Motorola digital corded and cordless phones.
It seems that Motorola have added their technological magic to their video baby monitors, really taking the time to understand what it is that parents really want from their monitors. First and foremost they utilize up-to-the-minute 2.4GHz digital FHSS (frequency hopping spread spectrum) and data encryption technology which means that signals are virtually interference free and secure. In the past baby monitors utilized wireless analog frequencies which are unfortunately much more open to interference and interception from other wireless signals. This meant that many monitors suffered with audio static, fuzzy video, but worst of all, neighbors with monitors being able to pick up pictures of other peoples babies, and vice versa.
Digital technology is much more reliable, but still prone to interference especially if you have other electronic devices that run on a similar frequency such as cordless phones, microwave ovens, smart meters etc. People have also complained about their monitors interfering with their WiFi. With frequency hopping technology this doesn't seem to happen and is much more secure. Now many of the video baby monitor manufacturers are introducing this type of technology into their latest models which offers great peace of mind to parents.
Another great plus point for these Motorola video baby monitors is the signal range. Most manufacturers advertise a signal range usually between 300-500 feet. If you read the small print this is the maximum range with a clear line of vision, meaning nothing gets in the way between the monitor and the camera. In reality there's always going to be walls, furniture etc in the way which reduces the signal range. Some parents have been really disappointed with their signal range getting barely 50 feet in some cases. Motorola advertise their signal range as 650 feet and from reading the reviews it seems that users are satisfied with this.
Another great function is that you have the option to view the video through your TV. Very simple to set up, all you need to do is connect a suitable AV cable into the AV Out on the side of the monitor and into the AV input on your TV. Then scroll through the AV inputs on the TV menu until you get a picture.
Not only are the MPB36 and MPB33 two of the bestselling video baby monitors on Amazon, they are also two of the top rated. Read these Motorola video baby monitor reviews to see what all the hype is about.

Motorola Digital Video Baby Monitor MBP36 Review
Functions and Features
Let's take a tour around the Motorola digital video baby monitor MBP36.In the box comes the parent unit which you will use to access the features, a baby camera which is placed in the nursery, a rechargeable battery pack for the parent unit, a power cable for both the parent unit and bay camera and of course, the all important user guide.
The parent unit as you can see has a lovely modern design that looks very sleek and stylish. The 3.5" TFT LCD screen gives you clear color day time viewing and as it gets dark automatic black and white night vision. This means you can monitor your baby throughout the day and night without compromising on clarity. It's a good handy size which means that you can carry it around in your hand, or stand it on a level surface as there's a kick out stand at the back. You have the option of plugging the monitor in at the mains, or using battery power (it comes with a rechargeable battery pack).
The camera is placed at least three feet away from your baby for safety reasons, either on a shelf or cupboard. It can also be wall-mounted using just one screw which holds it in place, this allows for a better viewing angle. The camera has 8 high intensity infrared LED's that gives you clear black and white vision as the room gets dark. From the parent unit you can remotely adjust the camera to pan, tilt and zoom. Also you can add up to three additional cameras and from the parent unit scan between each one, changing every 12 seconds.
So what else can the monitor do? Well, it allows you to communicate with your baby without having to go into their room through the two-way talk feature. You can soothe them when they start crying, even when you are out in the yard or doing the laundry, and you can hear them gurgle back to you.
You can't always hear your baby cry especially if you've got the TV or radio on or talking on the telephone so there's a sound bar on the front of the monitor with five LED's which light up when your baby starts making a noise. The higher the level of the noise, the more sound bars light up. You also have the option of having audio only which is useful at night and saves on energy. You turn the video off and you can hear your baby's sounds through the sensitive microphone.
Some other functions include five built-in lullabies which you can choose to send your baby to sleep, a temperature monitor so you can keep an eye on the temperature of the room, and an alarm which you can set at 2, 4 or 6 hours, useful to remind you of feeding times.
Motorola Digital Video Baby Monitor MBP33 Review
Functions and Features
A smaller version of the MBP36 is the Motorola video baby monitor MBP33,with its 2.8" TFT LCD color screen.I'm not going to write a huge amount here as this model has exactly the same features and functions as the Motorola MBP36. The only difference between the two is the screen size and the fact that although you can remotely zoom in on your baby, you can't remotely pan or tilt the camera. However, you can manually adjust the camera to get a better viewing angle. It's also around $50-$70 cheaper if budget is a consideration.
Motorola MBP36 vs MBP33
Which one should you choose?
Both the Motorola MBP36 and the Motorola MBP33 are highly rated and are the best selling video baby monitors on Amazon at the moment. As far as pros and cons, there is very little to say as most customers seem very satisfied with either one especially when it comes to the quality of the video and audio. However, a few customers complained about the volume function on the MBP33 in that you can't turn the volume off completely and just watch the video, but this is definitely not a deal breaker. Also, even though you can move the monitor around and stand it up, it doesn't have a belt clip which would have made it truly portable.
So which one should you go for?
This is a difficult one as they are both great monitors. In the end it's down to personal preference and budget, but if you prefer a larger screen and the ability to be able to remotely zoom, pan and tilt the camera then the Motorola MBP36 is the one for you. However, if you're not bothered about remotely adjusting the camera and think the 2.8" adequate you can save yourself a few dollars and go for the Motorola MBP33. They are both great choices.
The Motorola MBP36U Extra Camera
For when you need to expand!
The great thing about the Motorola video baby monitors is that they can support up to 4 cameras for multiple room viewing. The Motorola MBP36U extra camera allows you to expand your monitor capabilities as your family expands.Whether you use it when you have another child, or you already have other children who you would like to keep an eye on then you have that option. When you add additional cameras you have the ability to scan each room, changing every 12 seconds so you know what's going on when you want to.

Motorola Digital Picture Frame and Video Monitor
A unique and stylish product
Motorola have done it again and have come with something quite unique, the Motorola MFV700 digital frame with video-in-picture. Not only do they have a good range of digital picture frames, they have two of the best selling video baby monitors, the Motorola MBP36 and the MBP33. Now it seems that they have decided to combine the two to come up with the world's first digital photo frame that can simultaneously display a photo slide show and live video monitoring from the remote wireless camera. The camera uses DECT 6.0 technology with a signal range of up to an impressive 650 feet (200 metres). The camera has in-built infrared LED's giving automatic black and white night vision. Other amazing features include a 7" TFT color screen, but also temperature sensor, clock, alarm and calendar function. The Motorola MFV700 comes with an infrared remote control that lets you control the slide show and video from across the room which makes it very convenient.
Combining a digital picture frame and video monitor is an interesting and unique idea and one I'm not sure about. As yet, there aren't any customer reviews on the Motorola digital picture frame and video monitor to find out what customers really feel about it but I'm sure people will have something to say about this product.

- The negative reviews on amazon.com mention that Motorola customer service representatives don't even know that the company makes the monitors much less have service for them. Before I purchase one I want to make sure that there is customer service readily available. It seems people are told they'll receive a call back but never do. Thanking you in advance for your response.

- As I mentioned, in 2008 Motorola appointed Binatone as the global licensee of video baby monitors and photo frames, and North American licensee of Motorola digital corded and cordless phone. For any problems regarding the video baby monitors you need to contact Binatone and not Motorola. I contacted Binatone North America with a query and they never replied. I also contacted Binatone UK and received a reply quickly (Sarah Bellwood, Customer Service). Try emailing them at enquiries@binatone-support.co.uk. It may be a quicker route to take. Hope this helps.

- Hi there! Can you share what cable you used when testing tv out on the motorola baby monitors? They don't appear to sell one at all, so we haven't been sure how to get one that we know is compatible with the device. Looks like some others are searching too, so any input would be appreciated!

- I've had a reply from Binatone UK (North America haven't replied yet) who say that they've ordered a small quantity of speciality cables for the MBP36 and will let me know when they arrive. Will keep you posted.
