Supermoto - the most fun on two wheels and a motor

Take a dirt bike and bolt on some street wheels with street tires on it. Sounds like fun, huh? The guys at motostrano have been fixing up riders with high tech supermoto for years. Our race group led by John Tai/ JST Racing has hosted top riders from around the world including S1 Supermoto World Champion Gerald Delepine from Belgium, Micky Dymond, Eric Bostrom, Cary Hart and Tyler Evans- all champions in their own right and from different disciplines.

How To Build A Supermoto

Converting your bike to Supermoto The Easy Way

I converted my first Supermoto back in 2002. At the time there were very few resources about where to go for supermoto parts, so motostrano was a huge help, since they specialized in Supermoto parts. Their supermoto conversion kits are the way to go to get the basic essentials you'll need to transform a dirt bike to full supermoto dress for under $2000.

For this conversion, I wanted top quality parts that would bolt on without fidgeting, cutting or machining. Also, since this bike would double as both a race bike for track and street duty- the parts needed to have a little bling about them.

I bought into the the

Essentially, this kit took the guesswork out of the basic elements of building my supermoto and everything was completely bolt on.

My Yamaha WR450 at the time had seen a lot of dirt hours. Once my wheels were bolted on, the brakes were installed and the fender mounted, I upgraded the whole plastics on the bike to give it a fresh look, along with new graphics. I also added new handlebars from Magura for a lower riding position and better pull. At the same time, I put on new grips.

Once the bike was set up it was all fun from there. Excellent handling and grip out of the Continental supermoto tires and the big brake kit gives off ample stopping power.

After a few days of bombing around town, it was time to test the new set-up at the track. I had left the suspension on the bike alone and really this was fine for the street but at the track I adjusted the suspension to stiffer settings. No extra lowering is required during the conversion process.

At the track, the bike was light and flickable, with plenty of grip. Motoring down a straig

    Hi,
With so many cool motorcycles out there, trying to finding the right one can become very frustrating. Do you want a race rocket? Cruiser? or do you just want a moped to travel to and from work? Once you decide on what type of motorcycle you want, getting it insured can be described as a long, and dreary process.
