Mountain Bikes Reviews - Key Factors to Consider for a Mountain Bike

Few Key Factors to consider for specialized mountain bikes

Cost of Specialized Mountain Bike

The mountain bike itself can be divided into three distinct areas: the frame, the components, and the wheels. However, all three have similarities in terms of their value, performance and roles.

Weight and durability are the two factors that decide the cost of the mountain bike. The lighter the bike, the more it will cost because the frame and components have been lightened, yet the durability of the parts has been retained.

Despite that, there are some mountain bikes that are light but not expensive! There are the kinds of parts that are 'fake light'. This means that in spite of weight and cost, they are so light that they compromise the safety of the rider.

Wheel and Tire

If you plan to ride on difficult terrain, you will need to ensure the tires are wide- bigger than usual and allow for lots of grip.

If you plan to ride entirely on pavement, you will need to ensure the tires are a little thinner and smoother, but allow for a little bit of traction.

Mountain Bike Suspension

This is one of the key factors to consider when buying a specialized mountain bike.

Mountain bikes can be classified into four categories based on suspension:

Fully Rigid Mountain bike - A frame with a rigid fork and fixed rear. There is no suspension for this type of mountain bike.

Hardtail Mountain bike Suspension- The frame of the mountain bike comes with a front suspension fork and no rear suspension.

Soft Tail Mountain bike Suspension - The frame of the mountain bike comes with a small amount of rear suspension; it can be activated by flex of the frame instead of pivots.

Dual or Full Mountain bike Suspension - The frame of the mountain bike comes with a front suspension fork and rear suspension with a rear shock and linkage that allows the rear wheel to move on pivots.

They have a full range of specialized mountain bikes for different purposes, including Full Suspension, Hardtail, Road, Recreation and Urban.

Cannondale has brought a few concepts to market that have since become accepted industry standards.

One of their innovations is the suspension fork called the Lefty, which helps to eliminate flexing of the fork legs and also eliminates static friction, which must be overcome before the fork begins to travel.

They also developed a proprietary bottom bracket and crankset technology called Hollowgram which has been featured in its high-end bikes since 2001. The aluminum Hollowgram crank is a two piece hollow shell that is bonded with aluminum glue. The Hollowgram bottom bracket axle is also hollow aluminum and oversized.
