Mount Rainier Vacation !
Mount Rainier: Glaciers, wild-flower covered meadows, snow-covered peaks, elk, mountain goats, waterfalls, hundreds of lakes and hundred-hile long hiking trails ( and shorter ones!). America's 4th National Park after Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and Sequoia is one you should add to your list of 49 things to do! Open year-round though winter is best for snow-shoeing and cross-country skiing and summer is best for wildflower viewing and access to all areas of the Park. See Mount St. Helens just 90 minutes south. See the Rainier Visitor Guide at http://www.RainierVisitorGuide.com for more info.
Mount Rainier Trip Review
We stayed at Great Wolf Lodge in nearby Centralia and then entered the Park through the Nisqually entrance at Ashford. Drove straight to the new Henry Jackson Visitor Center at Paradise - fantastic. Ate lunch at the Paradise Inn. We then drove around to Sunrise Visitor Center and got some great photos with the Mountain as a backdrop. Hoped to see the mountain goats but they weren't out that day. Did see a herd of elk. Overall it was an very nice day - hope to come back with more time to hike the trails to Reflection Lakes and someday take the climb to Camp Muir.

Top things to see....
Jackson Visitor Center at Paradise, Sunrise Visitor Center and Viewing Area, Reflection Lakes near Paradise, Nisqually Glacier, nearby Northwest Trek wildlife preserve, and Mount St. Helens 90 minutes to the south ( www.MountStHelens.com )
Best Trip: Mount Rainier or Mount St. Helens ?
Compare trips: www.MountStHelens.com or www.RainierVisitorGuide.com ?
I would do them both - they are only 90 minutes away. Stop at the Centralia Outlet stores, Cabelas, or the Lucky Eagle Casino for evening entertainment.
Is Mount Rainier or Mount St. Helens the better travel trip?

Mount St. Helens is awesome! A much more memorable trip.
Mount Rainier has more hikes, lodging, places to eat, see and do.

- Rainier is one of the Best National Parks in the Country - I think Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Bryce may be more breathtaking - maybe, but for parks to actually hike, bike, climb and really spend time in I think Rainier is one of the best.
