A plethora of movie reviews

I try to write movie reviews for everything I see in the theater. That's usually a lot since I get into screenings pretty often and try to see at least one movie a week. Occasionally, I'll do a DVD review if it's a slow week or something. But yeah, that's about the gist of it.

Attack the Block (2011) review - Houston Movie | Examiner.com: A review for the sci-fi action comedy Attack the Block, which is probably one of the most entertaining films of the year. Unfortunately, a theatrical release in Houston doesn't look likely but it did have a limited release starting Friday, July 29th.

And sure, the apes jump out of windows without a scratch and Caesar rides a horse but the ridiculous moments are so few and far between compared to the greatness this movie offers.

Naked Lunch (1991) review - Houston Movie | Examiner.com: David Cronenberg has given us new flesh, a fly, the ability to make someone's head explode at will, a man who can predict the future, twin gynecologists with a drug problem, and the unique chance to see the world through the eyes of a mentally disturbed man among many other things. Naked Lunch is Cronenberg at his best. It's bizarre, extraordinary, and you get to see a typewriter get an erection. How often do you get to say that about a film? Puncture (2011) review - Houston Movie | Examiner.com: A review of the drama Puncture starring Chris Evans. Puncture is not only based in Houston but it's based on a true story, as well. 800,000 individuals are accidentally pricked by needles every year, so why is it that when a safety syringe is introduced no hospital wants to carry it? That's where these two Houston lawyers come in. Puncture is now playing at the Landmark River Oaks theater here in Houston.
Blu-ray review: Dumbo (1941) - Houston Movie | Examiner.com: The 70th Anniversary Edition of Dumbo was released on September 20th. This is a review of the Blu-ray portion of the Two-Disc set. But yeah, Dumbo is still pretty spectacular seventy years later.

1911 (2011) review - Houston Movie | Examiner.com: A review of the historical drama 1911 produced, directed, and starring Jackie Chan. It's also Chan's 100th film. Like war films? Or Chinese epics? This may be worth a look then. Unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan. The film will be playing in Houston starting Friday, October 7th at the Cinemark Memorial City movie theater.
