Every Little Girl's Dream House

Looking for something different and unique for that little princess for Christmas? Dollhouses are the perfect idea and miniature houses from the old television shows are even better. Every young girl dreams of having either the mansion on the hill or the little house with the white picket fence. And all little girls always ask Santa for a doll house at every Christmas and some times that urge doesn't go away with age either. Ever dream of owning Twin Oakes or The Ponderosa or the house that housed the famous Waltons? Feel free to look into a little Dollhouse History and where they came from.

Ben Cartwright's Ponderosa

later known as Bonanza

From 1959 - 1973, Bonanza was the second longest running western tv show of it's time (Gunsmoke running longer). And for anyone that remembers it, will also remember that the name of the Ranch was The Ponderosa. Lorne Greene played three time widower Ben Cartwright, owner of The Ponderosa. Along with his 3 sons, Adam (Pernell Roberts), Eric aka Hoss (Dan Blocker) and Little Joe (Michael Landon). And who can forget the laughable cook, Hop Sing (Victor Sen Yung). I always had to watch this show when it was until Pernell Roberts left and altho I still did watch it, it just wasn't the same cause for me, I had the hots for Pernell Roberts. :) After Roberts left they brought in Candy played by David Canary who later went on to play the duo role of Adam and Stuart Chandler on All My Children.

Green Acres

with Eddie Albert and Ava Gabor

Green Acres was a 1965 spinoff from Petticoat Junction starring Eddie Albert as New York lawyer Oliver Douglas and Ava Gabor as his socialite wife Lisa. Oliver's lifelong dream was to own a farm and when dishonest salesman Haney (Pat Buttrum) came along with one to sell he jumped at the chance to buy it, sight unseen. Douglas dragged his pampered and prissy wife Lisa off to the country to the run down farm house he was scammed into buying. And for the next 6 years Oliver and Lisa Douglas were trying to fix up the farm house and making friends with the neighbours the Ziffels and their "son" Arnold the pig. I loved this show growing up, watching Lisa try to cook for her husband or watching Oliver having to climb the pole to answer the phone and Arnold the pig was hilarious. It's too bad they don't make shows like this anymore.

Gone With The Wind

the barbecue at Twelve Oaks

One of the most famous love stories was Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara. Except Scarlett's first love interest was Ashley Wilks of Twelve Oaks. It was the setting for the barbecue of which Scarlett finds out for certain that no matter what, Ashley would still be marrying Melanie, it is the plantation were Scarlett O'Hara first meets Rhett Butler. It's also the place where Scarlett was joined by her many suitors including the Tarlatan twins, one of which was Superman himself, George Reeves. This happens to be one of my most favorite movies of all time, tied with The Green Mile and Last of The Mohicans as my number one favorite movies
