Some fun and safe tricks with the Mozilla Firefox browser!

Using Mozilla Firefox Browser? Firefox is the best alternative, to Internet Explorer. Why is Mozilla Firefox so popular? For many reasons. Mozilla Firefox is designed to use many plugins, plugins are usually designed by other users, that allow a small piece of software to work inside a larger piece of software, giving the larger software (Mozilla Firefox) more abilities and uses. Mozilla designed Firefox to be, almost completely customizable by its users. Users who know a few commands, can alter the appearance, and performance of Mozilla Firefox. Some of those tricks I will list here. These are all safe, you won't harming your computer or Firefox browser in anyway. Please bookmark this page, I will be adding more Firefox tricks regularly.

A cool Firefox Facebook chat trick

Chat in Facebook, without keeping a Facebook page open.

Facebook in Firefox sidebarThis is one of my favorites. I enjoy using facebook chat to visit with my friends and family, but I hate how Facebook's chat bar is setup on the page. And why can't I use Facebook chat, when I am viewing another website? You can keep Facebook open in another tab, and browse another website in yet another tab, but still you have to open the Facebook tab, and then open the chat application tab at the bottom of the page just to read or send you messages. This simple and easy Firefox trick solves this problem. Just follow these quick, and easy steps in your Mozilla Firefox browser. This works best with Mac pc's. With a little modification it will work on windows as well.

First thing go and log into your Facebook account. Once logged into Facebook, click the bookmarks tab in Firefox browser. Then click, "organize bookmarks".

Then choose "New Bookmark" tab. Fill in the following:

Name: Facebook Chat
Location: http://www.facebook.com/presence/popout.php

Make sure the "Load this bookmark in sidebar" box is checked
Click "OK" button.

Now launch the Firefox side bar, by clicking "View" at the top of your browser, and then "Sidebar", and then click "Bookmarks".

Then chose "Facebook Chat". Facebook chat will now load into your Firefox sidebar.

Have fun chatting. If you are not using a Mac pc, this will take some modifications, this works best on Mac. To get around the sidebar resizing automatically leave "php" out of the location. For example instead of entering " http://www.facebook.com/presence/popout.php" , try entering "http://www.facebook.com/presence/popout"

This trick is nearly obsolete, because of the popout feature now in Facebook. I thought I would show this trick, as the process maybe useful for other things, on other websites.

Firefox has been a favourite of mine for the past few years and I rarely use IE. Though over the past little while, it's become sluggish, so I tried Google Chrome. I still use FF the most, but I like Chrome, especially for building Squidoo lenses.

I personally, enjoy Firefox for "squidworking". I have been faithful to IE, for everyday browsing, but that is changing. I have yet to really delve into Chrome, just because FF has worked well for me all this time. Thanks for the comment!
