It's really quite easy to download mp3s or mp4s or even movies to your ipod or other player.
You do however need a video capable ipod or other player to be able to do just that !
I've seen quite a few people who have bought ipods and then expected to get absolutely free downloads of every kind of music and videos - and they were quite disappointed whne they found they had to subscribe to a download service.(Even iTunes is a download service !)
Most modern iPods and layers have either the download software built in or supplied with the player on cd. The technical side is really very easy - it's the download service that is the problem.
Download services vary from the really professional companies with a huge range of movies or music downloads to the frankly rather amateur small download services.
You can either search around for pretty much any kind of Free MP3 music or videos that you like and with broadband it's really quick to do.
If you don't have software then you'll have to download some but be careful because some websites have nasty trojans or viruses stuck into their software ...
In fact some websites are just set up to get trojans on to your computer (so they can download your details !) None of the comapies I use do that !

It's probably better to stick to a membership site that will point you in the right direction
- a site that will give you complete songs or videos without download fees.
They'll also give you all the software you need to download or rip your music to your computer.
If you're looking for a big choice to download all types of music from rock to pop including full CD's and complete albums then you should go to a real website rather than one run by amateurs.
A Bigger site will also give you access to PSP and PC programs and utilities of all kinds (especially anti-virus things..)
You can also get TV Shows,Video Games and Music Videos - try it - it's FUN !
